1. Both are 2900g. Manamune provides the same amount of AD as Essence Reaver even with 0 stacks on Tear.
2. The build path on Manamune is better; Cloak of Agility from Essence is kind of a dead purchase on Kha compared to the more gradual buildup of components from Manamune
3. Essence Reaver doesn't actually provide any bonus mana for laning phase until it's fully completed, versus Manamune which provides mana from the get-go with Tear
4. In a similar way, Essence won't give any mana during extended sieges, since this Kha playstyle only really ever dives in for the kill. That means that it's very feasible that the build would just run out of mana during those sieging situations unless you started being very conservative with mana
None of this is to say Essence Reaver is bad; it gives 5 more ability haste and definitely has more potential burst. I'm just not sure those are good enough incentives to overpower Muramana though.
