Very well-made guide, my friend!

Seeing this build made me realize how broken Varus really is! His AP ratios are completely insane. In my eyes, he is basically what Azir was supposed to be (ez dps, mechanically intensive one-shot)

Hey, I've got some questions regarding the durability patch.

First, did the build change in any way? I've seen lots of mages go Ionian boots (ability haste) instead Sorcerers (magic pen). Which ones are the generally the preffered ones for ap varus now?

Also I've seen people go Riftmaker instead of Ludens. Whats your stance on that?

I think going Ionian is totally fine if you're looking to maximize ult cooldown. That should work pretty well especially on AP Varus since you're relying on your ult 80% of the time.

Ludens will still be best. You're not trying to take extended fights and heal, which is what Riftmaker is made for. You're looking to blow people up and get out (Ludens) :)

i dunno if this thread is still active but i need to ask: can i use this build in bot lane

As a varus otp yes, this works botlane but usually only if you have an enchanter who can side poke (janna, soraka) or someone like Lux, Xerath, velkoz and make it a poke kill lane. Same energy as Caitlin Lux

Perpetually active :) I dont think these builds work as well in bot because you want more DPS as an ADC, but try it if you want

Hey i was wondering on your opinion on the mixed build i see many using. going manamune>ludens tempest>sorc boots>Horizon Focus>etc. it seems like a solid build but how does it compare to lethality?

The mixed build is not bad, but I think full commitment to either Lethality or Ability power is the way to go, so you're not missing out on the full-potential of either build. Ability power builds are pretty popular and strong at the moment, but they prevent you from having consistent damage like what you get with lethality.
