I ran this build the other day in 2 separate games and had success in both. Build is legit (not that I doubted). As a fellow Zilean enjoyer I am trying to venture out of support to mid and now top a little more. I am more than confident in my abilities on this champion, it's more the match ups that I am less confident with after playing support for so many years, so I appreciate your guide. Cheers :)

Love the build and pick! Can't wait for a 14.10 update, I'm wondering about starter item now that Corrupting & biscuits are no longer options. Also interested about your opinions on items such Shurelya, cryptbloom, abyssal mask (support tank items) and warmogs!

Shurelya second is probably fine, Seraphs is too good to not go.
Cryptbloom is a third item if you are solo ap.
Abyssal Mask is a sad item you build if you are heavy ap.
Warmogs is terrible on lane Zilean, I would advise to never buy it.

I will try update the guide once I know a bit more about the season.

I saw a couple of small changes in the guide - I go magical footwear instead of cash back; Zil's items are generally pretty cheap, I think MS is a good stat - especially when you don't have Shurelya's because there will be a lot of times when you want to use your E on enemy or ally instead of yourself so MS helps you keep in range etc and not having to spend gold early to buy boots is pretty nice when you want Seraph/Frozen/RoA asap + he got a lot of important components to buy before boots. Cash Back feels more like a rune for champs with 3 item power spikes like a lot of adcs have, while magical footwear helps with 1st and 2nd item rushes.

Still really torn on Tear vs Ring as starter item and if there's ever situations where Shield is better

For Zil supp i saw two different builds/runes:
-Aery or glacial augment.
-And AP build with shurelya, zhonya, ... or a tanky one with Knight's Vow, Anathem, ...
What do u think about that? Is everfrost ok for sup?

You still take Curropting pot and Time Warp after the nerfs? I feel Cosmic Insight d-ring would be better now.

What are your thoughts on RoA? Is it ever viable? Curious about if any of the new items will change build.

Why would I play Zilean mid over support? He's not good on his own, and you can't always rely on your jungler in lower Elos.

It's a relatively safe pick. Roaming top/bot is fast and due to your kit can result in easy kills if your laners are switched on. You wont 1v9 a game, but a 0-100 Zilean can still be useful.

Half the time he's not good bot either. ADC's misjudge his capabilities or just simply don't understand them enough to make it a great lane. Unless you're duo with comms.

Not sure if I'm just bad at the timing, but I have to ask. Is there a delay between zilean ult interacting with someone coming out of zhonya's? It feels like there's a lot of ults I should hit, but they just don't activate.

Nvm, just re-read through your ult interaction tab. Don't know how I missed that.

Where would you rank akshan as far as matchups? Personally I find I have more trouble with him than the majority of matchups.

And is everfrost still the best mythic with the nerf to root duration?

They nerfed the slow! And yes.

Try Liandry and Demonic embrace. You get 8 seconds of burn and quite a lot of Ability haste later on too.

Archangels no, it's a utility item. Go something like void or deathcap.

Horizon Focus is excellent.
Cosmic is excellent.

So yeah any mix of these. Mejais naturally is great too.
