Im very conflicted by Jayce. He is a caster and assasin all in one so he makes sense mid, right? Well his passive mana regen per hit with hammer can barely be used mid vs a lot of the champs without being poked out, is that part of his kit insignificant enough that going mid is viable?

The mana passive is mostly supposed to be a punishing tool for when your opponent can't pressure you. Weather it be by pushing them out of lane or being so big that they can't get within your Q range, if you're at a point where they can't pressure you, you've now got massive mana to work with to keep laying down the pipe on 'em.

Valid. One more question which will determine the authenticity of this entire guide. What is the best Jayce skin

I usually run on this champion, and I buy ASAP. Seriously Eclipse is such a broken item on this champion I have no idea why they changed it instead of just nerfing it.

Funniest guide out there, good stuff!

Never really liked Jayce cause of how odd his kit was. Though after this guide, I realised how much fun he could be when played right! It's always so satisfying hitting a ranged Q-E combo, the damage on it is just *chef's kiss*.

If you want to learn Jayce, I really do recommend you do it Midlane. Toplane Jayce is not only D tier, but in order to really take advantage of what he provides, you have to already know him at a high level.
Don't get me wrong, Jayce will always traditionally be a Toplaner, that's where I (unfortunately) started learning him, but with how easily counterable and useless he can be in that lane this season, I really don't think it's worth it to start there.
The only real changes I'd make to this guide if I adapted it for Toplane would be adding the Phase Rush page that's been viable for 3 seasons, recommending Black Cleaver 2nd item against Tanks, and NEVER blind picking him Top, as any tank picked there (even Nasus) can and will steamroll you.
That aside, I really am glad you're picking up Jayce! If you really REALLY want to play him Top, there is a Master tier streamer named MoosyJ you can learn from! He streams on Twitch pretty consistently, and he's a wonderful guy to watch! I hope you have fun!! <3

I'm glad you're interested! Please do be aware that Jayce is a champ with one of the highest skill floors in the game, and learning him is by absolutely no means an easy task, but once you do learn him, I think he's one of the most fun champions in the game!

Also, you should check out Jayce's short story "A Quick Fix" on the League site! Arcane and League are technically 2 different canons, and in actual League lore, Jayce is an absolute narcissist and a **** to everyone around him, which is kinda one of the reasons I love him! Thank you for picking up Jayce, and I hope you have fun!!
