thoughts on running manaflow and scorch for the more guaranteed laning-phase snowball? ive noticed my axiom arcanist numbers arent that high. and i know transcendence is really useful, but hypothetically a winning snowball laning phase would give you enough ap by the time transcendence kicks in.
also thoughts on running bloodletters?
I initially tried scorch along with sudden impact/treasure hunter second (cut down did vastly more damage as secondary when tested so opted for the 33 haste through runes since its damage along with more box potential), i honestly find that scorches damage is really weak early compared to the power of other subrunes, and the ap from gathering synergises with blackfires %ap increase, deathcaps %ap increase, increases general damage post 10min, outdamages scorch post 20min, and increases the box duration from the %10 ap ratio, which gives shacos lategame box control potential a lot more power so that its not just a press E + ignite on adc build.
In terms of power because its a lower haste build i chose axiom to get more clone opportunities with its 7% cd refund on takedown along with slightly more damage, but the main point of axiom is for the clone cd refund.
scorch could help if youre guarenteed to snowball the lane but becomes useless later if not, while gathering gives you options if your adc ints/you get camped ect, but in the end the choice is whatever works best for you.
(edit: forgot to add bloodletters, i dont really like that item, im a firm believer that hp is bad on shaco because you want your clone to be one shot, it takes too long to be usefull with the burn, its only really viable if you have an apc so that you can double up with their void staff to boost their damage. also i generally dont want the stormsurge to proc on a tank since i want to save it to chunk a squishy, but if its a high tank game id swap shadowflame for cryptbloom since its the most optimal antitank with its 20 haste)
also a new enchanter core build which is surprisingly good.
The build comparison is currently out of date and will be updated at a later point, i wanted to see the new meta build for ap shaco sup and honestly couldnt be bothered doing the math yet, but i did minor testing and the new ap build already outdamages the previous ap build.
(changed the title to not include 70%wr anymore since i kept the 70% winrate on shaco support the entire season but now i dont have it anymore since new season, ended the season with a 70.2% winrate over 245 games on shaco support (didnt play much, just chill games w mates), might add my winrate back to the title in the future, currently im not queueing until a lot of things get fixed in the next few patches.
The solution to this may be to limit test some more; if you feel like you have no impact early, you might need to lean more into aggressive plays.
For the build, I don't know when you usually finish BFT, but with only buying refillable pots and some Control Wards, I on average get it around 13 min. I think that is pretty average; also, you are usually going to earn double that from that point on. So maybe you just have to play a bit more for the mid-late game, and if you haven't been doing this already, when you've fallen behind, splitting for a T2 will most often get you back into the game ASAP. Being Shaco, this is also an incredibly safe thing to do.
Also, like, fear the jester already pointed out, although I do recommend HOB with the AP build as a situational runepage in my guide. Comet is by far the best Keystone for Shaco. You are missing out on a lot of damage and stats by defaulting to HOB every game. Furthermore, in my experience, this is also not going to give you consistent results; in some games you will not be able to make early plays and then end up with a mostly useless run page, as Domination Secondarys all pretty much suck in comparison to the other choices.
I hope this is going to help you out or has given you another perspective on this, but either way, if the HOB-Insp Combo suits your playstyle better, there is nothing wrong with that.
In case you don't want to give up HOB, I'd recommend you pick up Precision as your secondary and go with Legend: Haste and Cut Down. Or Sorcery with Transcendence and Gathering Storm/Axiom Arcanist.
This brings your W CD down to 9.8 sec, and a wave spawns every 30 sec, so you have plenty of time to set up around the lane you're pushing out. I usually still go ahead and place 2-3 boxes around the jungle before giving a vision of myself when I don't know where everyone is on the enemy team.
Also, you're out for the 675 gold from their tower, so I'd recommend you don't care too much about last hitting and just place the box on the cannon when the wave has grouped and go to set up the next box in the jungle. Also, in case you didn't know, you should also use your clone on the tower to double the damage from your autos. Ideally, you then also have a couple of boxes behind the wall next to the tower so you can easily Q to safety. Also, picking up the blue trinket is going to save you some time when setting up, allowing you to not go as deep into the jungle and therefore push the lane faster while still getting plenty of vision.
I am also working on a big update for my guide, where I will go in-depth on when to split and a lot more mechanics than I currently do. This may be worth checking out when it releases in about a month, in case you think you might have some room for improvement there.

My Guide
Sorry for the self-promotion. Hope this helps :)
after ive done this correctly and ammassed at least 6-8 boxes with a bit of deep vision to cover flanks, then i will start to push the lane a bit and go for tower damage, but not because i want to take the tower, i want to draw the enemy team to come and deal with me, because that means that my team should be able to win elsewhere on the map or i trade the turret if they dont deal with me, since im just a support, they cant send a support to deal with me when i have 8+ boxes of stored damage potential set which is continuing to grow until i hit my box cap, if they send a support and another champ to deal with me, likely i will be able to either kill or push them back, if they send 2 damage dealers to deal with me, then its my 4 damage dealer teammates vs 2 of theirs and a support, its a favorable outcome no matter what, if i die and take one with me, then thats not bad as i still got the gold that i was splitting for anyway, especially if i have teleport to go back and resume with the already set boxes, at this stage i want to become an unavoidable threat where no matter what the enemy team does, it will always be favorable, even when behind, just showing that youre not a threat and just catching waves will make them less likely to send people to deal with you, and with prep time and fallback options you should be able to escape almost any situation (especially with the Q teleport invis trick to dip whenever you want). so yea, thats kinda why i disagree with rolocyn slightly about the true power and purpose of shaco support splitpushing, i think its a lot better to freeze, build up, and only then show that youre a threat, insta pushing the wave and wasting boxes will make him a lot weaker through stored damage potential, show that hes a threat to the enemy team with less boxes since youre showing them being used and is pusing the waves, and honestly just make you a really easy out of position kill target, thats why when i chose to split, i pick a wave thats closer to the enemy turret and is in an empty lane, because i can stay out of vision and prep, then freeze the wave and catch the gold, sometimes if i dont like the wavestate, then i will still prep it further down the lane to give me fallback, then push a wave or two until it crashes in the spot that i want, then build the boxes up further up, its insanely safer then hard pushing waves on repeat. a bit of a wall of text, but i hope it helps to understand the true power of shaco support splitpushing, as i advocate for it quite a bit in my guide, let me know if you need any more explanations about it
I often find that after a hard stomp, the losing lane tries to let the T1 fall early to escape the snowballing lane. This creates a window for me to quickly push for the T2 when they are eventually rotating. This then leads to me having a chance to either extend my lead or get back in the game.
This kind of situation is something I encounter quite often and possesses a great opportunity to get back in the game when you've fallen behind, as you can oftentimes execute this push in like 1–2 minutes, which is why I mentioned it. But this has nothing to do with actual split pushing, like you've described quite well.
Sorry for the contradictions there, mb.
more vision plants in more locations to reveal my boxes,
supports get cheaper control wards and a slot for control wards to always have one against me,
my leash is ruined yet again because of camps and minion waves spawning 30 seconds earlier so i either wont get to box river entrance against invades or i cant double box the buff, it might even mean all that i can do is place a single box and recall... (it used to be box river entrance, 2 box buff, 2 box krugs/gromp and still have enough mana to go to lane btw!!!)
horizon focus is getting reverted which is the core second item in my build, which will mean that with blackfires 20% ap increase and deathcaps 30% ap increase im losing between 65 and 75 ap which is an entire cooldown of my lategame box since 75 ap is 7.5 seconds on my box, so 1 less box... (im angry about this the most because no other item fits that missing horizon, 125 ap and 25 haste are the core stats that i want, it will either have to be replaced with maligance (-10 haste - 35 ap), seraphs (good stats but the shield ruins my clone survivability and needs a 3 mana item core to be viable), i refuse to build hp items with 25 haste because its the same issue with seraphs, i need my clone to be as squishy as possible, so... zero items fit that category, the only way i wouldnt be mad about it is if riot added traps triggering horizon so that i can actually get the 10% damage increase from it, but i know riot wont do that....
