Currently finding succes runing Asol bot with a build of my own. Tear start into rilay's - Atchangel - Bloodletter. I do not build liandris nor blackfire torch. (Sometimes I start doran ring into harder matchups, and buy tear when you have the chance). For runes i go Dark Harvest with Ultimate hunter and Cheapshot + sorcery (Axiom + gathering storm).
This build is, well, focused on the highest power scaling i could get, along with short R cooldown. One caveat is the lower mana pool, so you need to be deliberate with your mana usage, even lategame. (Only extra mana source is tear item in this build.)
Would you try this build?

Asol bot is definitely better at the moment.

I would never start tear, in high elo you would get bullied too hard in almost all matchups. Maybe against smolder you could get away with it.

I would never skip having one of the burn items because they synergise so well with asol as he is dps and the burn can help get W resets. I don't think archangel is that useful, if I need to protect myself I would go Zhonya or Banshee.

Dark harvest may have some value botlane, particularly in volatile matchups like karthus. Although I would be worried about skipping runes like cut down or manaflow band with that set up.

I think setting up runes to focus on ult+scaling isn't the optimal way to play asol because most of his strength comes from Q+W, tbh I think his base ult is quite a bad ult with long cooldown and long travel time it's hard to hit.

But I always say if a setup works for you then you don't need to change it.

Is the new Deathfire Touch rune viable for Asol or is Comet still the go to? If DFT is good, how would you build it out?
2
Event Horizon (2) | April 17, 2026 9:28am
Comet on Asol is unfortunately getting nerfed because the cooldown refund is being removed (maybe they change that before patch goes live?) so DFT will certainly be an option, especially bot lane. Comet might still be the go to for midlane. It's difficult to say what will be superior until the patch is live but I will check data and experiment myself.

DFT + double burn items will be interesting to test. BFT > Rylai's > Liandry's.

Although in high elo I doubt the build will change from Rylai's > Liandry's > Bloodletter/defensive item.

I'll update the guide accordingly.

One thing i would like to bring up is viability of dark harvest on Aurelion. I play it on APC and i end up with nonsmall amount of stacks on it. Also cheapshot and ultimate hunter runes are quite nice on aurelion.

I only use DH when I play jungle Asol because there is not much fighting at low hp in higher elos. If you can get a lot of stacks I guess it can work but then you are missing either the precision or sorcery tree which Asol prefers to the domination tree.

Hello. I am trying to learn more about A Sol build path's and what not because I enjoy playing him. Is Rod of Ages viable at all for him? I only figured since it granted AP, Health and Mana that it might be alright. Can someone confirm if its worth going RoA into Rylai's into Liandry's?
1
Event Horizon (2) | April 7, 2026 11:49pm
ROA is not optimal on Asol but can be an option in really difficult matchups if the laning phase feels unplayable. The catalyst component is OP for staying alive but you will have little damage or waveclear. I very rarely buy the item but ROA > Rylai > Liandry is the buildpath if you do buy it.

It’s not optimal because the utility on Rylai or damage/waveclear on BFT have much more impact on first item especially once you are experienced on the champion and know the limits you can play on

As someone who recently picked up Aurelion, there is one little trick i would like to share. During lane, focus your autos on caster minions and let the frontlines be weakened by enemy minions. Then E the whole wave. If done correctly, you can get all 6 minions to die in the black hole.
1
Event Horizon (2) | February 18, 2026 7:29am
I suppose that’s one way to prepare a wave, as long as you don’t get punished for overextending in the wave to auto the casters.

I usually prioritise the melee minions because they are tankier and safer to hit.

Hello, at the moment my rank is emerald 4 and I wanted to ask something. Given the current quest for the midlane, is there an option to buy Plated Steelcaps for Aurelion Sol? For example, if you play against Tryndamere, Jinx, etc. Or Sorcerer's Shoes is like a must-have?

Event Horizon (2) | January 19, 2026 4:33am
Hi. Absolutely! The tier 3 boots are OP at the moment for midlane and if you check my op.gg you’ll see I’ve been going defensive boots most games. Sorcs are not very gold efficient but the defensive boots are. The defensive boots help you stay alive in the mid game helping you to reach the three item spike.

https://op.gg/lol/summoners/euw/Event%20Horizon-Solar

If the boots don’t get nerfed I’m going to change the boots section of the guide to prioritise defensive boots, MR or Armor.

Got it, thanks!

Is there a reason why you dont really use ur own guide runes urself in ur games? was just checking the profile and saw you going basicly every game same normal "agressive" runes.
1
Event Horizon (2) | December 2, 2025 3:04pm
My guide is mainly aimed at lower ranks, gold and below, as that is the main audience for a guide. The game is very different at those ranks and being passive in the early game is not really punished. In higher ranks, particularly d2+, this is not true at all and early game runes are hugely dominant as people know how to snowball a lead.

The same goes for items. BFT as a first item is way more viable in low ranks as you can get away with an item with no HP. However, in my games BFT rush very often feels like self-sabotage as you are just too squishy. ROA is another example, way more viable in low elo (still not a good item for asol imo).

If you play in a higher rank, or just want to go into more detail, I am happy to talk about it. It's just very difficult to summarise every single scenario for every single matchup, in a range of different skill brackets, in a written guide.

I might be slow but this is guide for pc league right?

Event Horizon (2) | October 16, 2025 2:52pm
Yeah this is for PC. If you want a guide for Wild Rift on mobile you can try this one:

Friend told me that mobafire = mobile league lol

Hazardist (10) | October 16, 2025 6:28pm
Your friend was spreading misinformation. MobaFire is all for PC League, for WildRift you have to check out WildriftFire, in the same ecosystem as this site

After some time on bot will you do matchups for it too?
1
zizalous | April 15, 2026 2:22pm
I run aurelion sol botlane a lot. And here is what i found out about matchups so far:
It usually does not depend on ADC itself, the support is what matters most. All engage supports shut down aurelion hard, as they can punish you early on. poke and enchater supports are, well, there. In regards to adcs, Jhin and Cait are the only real threats.

Event Horizon (2) | October 5, 2025 8:40am
I've added some itemisation options for botlane.
2
Event Horizon (2) | September 27, 2025 1:36pm
My feeling is when your support and/or jungle has decent CC a burn item rush is really good. Liandry vs tankier comps, BFT vs squishier comps. Then go Rylai's second.
2
Event Horizon (2) | September 26, 2025 3:54pm
I guess I could but botlane is a lot more one dimensional. I just run the aggressive runes every game unless I’m against something like draven which I know I can’t trade with so I go Gathering Storm.

I’ve been experimenting with Liandry or BFT rush when my team has a lot of CC

Rom2602 | September 26, 2025 3:05am
Can i play Sol as sp?
1
Event Horizon (2) | September 26, 2025 3:41am
Support? Kinda but it’s not very good. Asol is primarily about dealing damage and doesn’t have CC. It can also be difficult to get stacks as you don’t farm.

That said I have played it before when autofilled.

I see that you started playing apc more. Do you feel like apc asol is better than mid?
2
Event Horizon (2) | September 24, 2025 9:51am
I've swapped entirely to botlane because Asol mid is really unplayable in high elo in the current meta. His laning phase is simply too weak to handle all the assassins in both midlane and the jungle. Botlane at least allows Asol to survive the lane so in that sense it is easier and you have a better chance of scaling. The down sides are less XP and less map influence. In the current state of the game I would say APC is better. Below diamond I feel like midlane is still fine because the laning phase is not so well punished, however if you feel like you can't compete mid you can give botlane a try.

I just wanted to thank you for this guide. It helped me a lot ranking up even tho Im not in the best elo.

Event Horizon (2) | September 7, 2025 11:10am
That's awesome to hear! There is always room to improve no matter what rank you are.

What did you find most useful in the guide? Is there anything you would like to see added or have more detail added?

I like the matchup help.
