The Hubris item was nerfed in this patch; does this result in a change to the build or the order of purchase?

Hey I loved the guide and it helped me a ton! I had a question though more on why you choose each build in the moment. I was looking through your games and I think I’m just missing why you go each build in your games and I would like to understand. It looks like to me that you’re building bruiser if you have two other dmg dealers on your team and hubris if you need to do dmg for the game?

Recently Ive felt like most games the bruiser build is better. I'll go crit against full squishy teams like mage mid + assassin jg + some stupid **** like teemo top. I don't really base my builds on my own team comp much other than like slightly preferring building resistances when I have an enchanter.

Just played a very intense 60min game, got super fed with the default build, the only problem was the enemy zed and yi were just as fed as me. I swapped out Hexooptics for Guardian Angel to win a crucial fight for baron. Naturally, with my GA down, Zed and Yi thought they could all in me next fight, only to find out I had completely switched my build on their bitchass with the bruiser build xd

10/10 would bluwunk again

Best guide in the world! What is your opinion about Hexoptics C44? I think it could fit as a 4th item in Hubris build, what do you think?

i updated my guide and it's in there as a last item in my new build :D

Hello! Thank you so much for this excellent and detailed guide on our little dragon baby!!!

I also wanted to take this opportunity to ask about a couple of contentious points. In one of the Smolder lifehack videos, I saw a very interesting use of the ultimate "MMOOOMMMM!" from inside a wall using Flap, Flap, Flap. How viable do you think this technique is? (For instance, for finishing off high-priority targets from an unexpected angle).

My final question is about runes. In the new Season 16, for the ADK role, it's often recommended to take the "cashback" rune. The theory is that it helps you reach your core 7th item spike faster and has good synergy with the new ADK quest reward. Why don't you use it in your builds, and what would your updated rune page look like if you did?

Thank you very much in advance for your time. I apologize if any of my phrasing is awkward, as English is not my first language.

yeah i saw that video about the ult inside the wall i guess it can be useful but I've never done it.
you can take cashback if you like it. With the lethality build you could take inspiration secondary and go cashback and jack of all trades and it's pretty good too if you prefer it

Thank you very much for the answer!

Hey can I ask what the best supports for smolder are? I've seen on websites that nami/braum are like best ?

bluwunk (1) | January 27, 2026 2:24am

Thanks for the great guide!
One question though.
When the enemy team is full of assasins so low armor, I go the bruiser build for survivability. In this case do you still build black cleaver? And if not what to replace it with
1
bluwunk (1) | January 22, 2026 11:40am
yeah cleaver is good even if they're low armor, all you need against assassins is to not get 1shot. it has enough dmg and haste and movespeed to make you useful enough

Is Edge of Night still good in the Hubris build since you don't need it to finish Jack of All Trades anymore?

I know it is good if you need the spell shield, but if that isn't the case, wouldn't another lethality item be better or maybe even IE at this point?

Lastly, if I don't need RFC (when against low range comp) what item would be a good substitute? should I just skip it and buy 2 items from the "last item" tab instead?

Edit: Also, which of this builds would you recommend for ARAM?
1
bluwunk (1) | January 22, 2026 4:03am
I'd really try to get edge of night if you can in the lethality build cause the point of that build is to stack a bunch of lethality so your abilities do a lot of dmg. If you really think it's useless or gonna get popped easily you can skip it and bastionbreaker for some defensive items like GA/QSS/etc. If you don't need RFC you should go the bruiser build IMO or if you don't need survivability, the highest dmg build would be ER>Hubris>shojin>ldr>hunger>idk this last slot yet probably either IE or C44.

For Aram I'd probably go er>hubris>ie>ldr>bt something like that, can't really stack lethality since u dont have the ADC quest

Ignys Shadow | January 22, 2026 3:41pm
But if the idea is just to stack lethality, wouldn't another lethality item work? Instead of skipping it altogether you couldn't go for another lethality item?

Serpent's Fang would be great if you don't need the shield and the enemy team has lots of them. I don't usually use lethality items so I don't really know what could work, but there are other items that gives you AH and even more lethality. Or even Youmuu's that give you MS.

Great guide! I honestly didn't know anything about Smolder, and now I have a much better win rate with him in ranked. Thanks so much for taking the time to explain everything. Greetings from Argentina! 😸 One question: is teleport still used or not? Because I'm using a shield, but I feel like my mana is running out super fast, and I have to back constantly.

bluwunk (1) | January 10, 2026 4:14pm
Thank you!
I'm running out of mana all the time too LOL I think it's ok though I see other people doing the same thing. It's ok as long as you try to take good backs and manage your mana at least a little since homeguards are so OP this season you get back to lane really fast.
