hey Fear, thoughts on the new imperial mandate rework giving 15 ah to boxes, plus the 6% dmg amp for those feared?

Fear The Jester (8) | May 27, 2026 9:31pm
100% im gonna be trying to rush it first or second item, will be updating the guide with it soon (when i can be bothered - edit, i was bothered enough to do it), its definetely going to be core, still trying to theorycraft the early mana issues tho if if i rush it first item since shaco has one of the lowest mana regens in the game and cant benifit much from the 150% mregen on the item, im thinking of still just buying the mana crystal with the no pots 300g tp tech, but just holding onto it and selling it later. Since it sells for 210g ill only be losing 90g in the long run but since i dont buy the 100g of pots ill still be up 10g overall, ill be experimenting with looking into a tear aswell but i still need to watch my early laning when i do with the mana timings, because the 300g tp tech allows me to use mana as much as i want and by the time i get the 300g ill usually be out of mana or close to, adding an extra 100g of waiting might decrease the early pressure a bit if i have to conserve some mana, and tear sells for 280g so ill be losing out on 120g or 20g overall since no pots if i sell it later, but theres always the option of going into tear if i pick up a bit of early gold and cant afford dark seal alongside the mana crystal, mana crystal and seal would have more value then a tear. Idk, still working out that side of things, dont think manaflow band is worth it tho still.

it sounds like continuing mana crystal into lost chapter then blackfire torch first, imp mandate second, sounds smoother right? unless you want that 30ah imp mandate spike as fast as possible?

hey Fear, i tried the chaos build and had an 90k dmg game. absolutely insane.
thoughts on running manaflow and scorch for the more guaranteed laning-phase snowball? ive noticed my axiom arcanist numbers arent that high. and i know transcendence is really useful, but hypothetically a winning snowball laning phase would give you enough ap by the time transcendence kicks in.
also thoughts on running bloodletters?

Fear The Jester (8) | May 11, 2026 3:47am
I have had some thoughts on that, i tried manaflow in a game initially and found that it gives not alot of mana by the time that i do the 300g tp tech for a mana crystal, which provides all the mana that i need at that point and later in the game i wont need the 1% mana recharge or extra mana.

I initially tried scorch along with sudden impact/treasure hunter second (cut down did vastly more damage as secondary when tested so opted for the 33 haste through runes since its damage along with more box potential), i honestly find that scorches damage is really weak early compared to the power of other subrunes, and the ap from gathering synergises with blackfires %ap increase, deathcaps %ap increase, increases general damage post 10min, outdamages scorch post 20min, and increases the box duration from the %10 ap ratio, which gives shacos lategame box control potential a lot more power so that its not just a press E + ignite on adc build.

In terms of power because its a lower haste build i chose axiom to get more clone opportunities with its 7% cd refund on takedown along with slightly more damage, but the main point of axiom is for the clone cd refund.

scorch could help if youre guarenteed to snowball the lane but becomes useless later if not, while gathering gives you options if your adc ints/you get camped ect, but in the end the choice is whatever works best for you.

(edit: forgot to add bloodletters, i dont really like that item, im a firm believer that hp is bad on shaco because you want your clone to be one shot, it takes too long to be usefull with the burn, its only really viable if you have an apc so that you can double up with their void staff to boost their damage. also i generally dont want the stormsurge to proc on a tank since i want to save it to chunk a squishy, but if its a high tank game id swap shadowflame for cryptbloom since its the most optimal antitank with its 20 haste)

What is an E Q trade combo on shaco, and thank you for updating the runes and build, its very helpful.
2
Fear The Jester (8) | May 11, 2026 12:05am
The E Q crit quicktrade is where you throw E and Q towards the enemy and backstab crit them at the exact same time the E lands, or slightly before the E lands so that the E can get bonus damage from them being lower (tho thats a fair bit harder to land), it gives the enemy less time to react and punish you for it, but it can be very risky since youre using your only escape to deal damage, its useful for either chunking the opponent or to execute them when they think the E itself wont kill them so they wont use heal/barrier. its a lot stronger early on ad shaco but can still be quite effective early game for ap shaco.

might you explain stored box potential a bit more, thanks
2
Fear The Jester (8) | May 9, 2026 5:09am
Sure, stored box damage potential just means the amount of damage of all the boxes that can be controlled at once, like if you can set at most 14 boxes at once and they each deal 1000 dmg then the stored damage potential would be 14000, so they have the potential to deal 14000 damage if all of them are triggered. Lemme know if you need more info

swapped redemption for nashors third item as i honestly found it slightly lacking even though its still quite strong, its just the opportunities the make it strong are quite rare, would rather further enhance the splitpush and clones potential instead

rebuilding the ap core build, i dont like actualizer, 3100g for 10 haste is painful, the buildpath of a useless lost chapter at a point where i already have all the mana i need is painful, and a blasting wand is so awkward to build in a few scenarios, im bringing back my 4 codex core build and just taking the 50ap loss as a nerf, its only 5 seconds off box duration and a bit of damage loss, while actualizer is strong in theory when activated, the loss of so much power midgame is too great to consider it, and the seraphs shield downside hurts, with the loss of 50ap on horizon its not worth to build it second, but for the sake of the 4 codex cores insane strength ill be building it 3rd, and with the 4 codex core it was already more gold efficient stat wise to build into crypt second anyway, will in theory as a full build actualizer did out perform damage wise, its quite inconsistant in scenarios where youre either dead or dont have the reaction time leeway needed to press another button before death/escape, but i shall be leaving it as an option for final item alongside malignance and mejais, because it technically out performs damage wise compared to malig and mejais but they both have their own advantages aswell, its gonna suck having to pull out an older version of this guide and update it with all the new stats and builds in the current one since all of the information for the 4 codex build has been removed from the current guide, so ill be updating this in probably the next few days when i get around to it (procrastinating for the time being because i dont like things that take effort :p)

also considering a triple codex core building into crypt and redemption as an alternative... sounds crazy, but it has 30 ap and 15 haste, can be used to kill with the 10% max hp true dmg, or to overdose on heals and save your team... and with a triple codex core the issue of needing to sell dark seal wouldnt come up as you wouldnt need the 4th codex... call me a mad genius but that could actually work. lose out on a bit of damage, still have 15 haste, cheaper build, 3 codex core, more heals, long range vision, area denial with the threat of the true dmg... let. me. cook. on that for a bit

Moved the AD build into its own section, because i like it and think its strong enough compared to the power of the AP build to no longer consider it a meme build, moved the enchanter build from the bottom to the top of the meme builds since its power is a lot stronger with the echoes of helia and diadem of songs interaction to double the healing value of diadem of songs with your clone having the items to either constantly heal you, your clone and your teammates. its still quite meme, but is decent and belongs at the top when compared to the others.

Updated the guide for the new season, minor changes to the ap build (replaced horizon focus with equalizer and replaced final item with seraphs, stronger then the previous build), MAJOR CHANGES to the ad build, an entirely new build which is kinda broken imo, full build allows you to 3 auto a 3k hp 100 armor opponent for 3.5k dmg insanely fast with over 3.0 attack speed, and turns your clone into a nightmare, kept the jack of all trades core on it because of the new fiendhunter bolts, which are kinda insane on shaco.
also a new enchanter core build which is surprisingly good.

The build comparison is currently out of date and will be updated at a later point, i wanted to see the new meta build for ap shaco sup and honestly couldnt be bothered doing the math yet, but i did minor testing and the new ap build already outdamages the previous ap build.

(changed the title to not include 70%wr anymore since i kept the 70% winrate on shaco support the entire season but now i dont have it anymore since new season, ended the season with a 70.2% winrate over 245 games on shaco support (didnt play much, just chill games w mates), might add my winrate back to the title in the future, currently im not queueing until a lot of things get fixed in the next few patches.

would love to see a video on how the early game is played. my main struggle is trying to be useful early on and not falling behind. also it takes me ages to get items going with these runes. 1 build i have been using is HOB with treasure hunter and running cash back on my 2nd slot of runes. this gives me about 1500 extra hold by the end of my item building phase, but most importantly it helps me get my 1st item fairly early because with HOB i can get a kill or 2 usually. thoughts?

I think you might just have to commit to Comet for some more time. IDK how many hours you have on Comet-Shaco-support, but it takes a long time until you're going to be able to make plays consistently. Another thing you might have to keep in mind is that your poke is pretty much negligible early on, and when you're playing poke, you are usually going to try and either go for a double box and run or simply let your ADC get free poke off your boxes. In case they don't do that, you will most likely not find success with that playstyle.

The solution to this may be to limit test some more; if you feel like you have no impact early, you might need to lean more into aggressive plays.

For the build, I don't know when you usually finish BFT, but with only buying refillable pots and some Control Wards, I on average get it around 13 min. I think that is pretty average; also, you are usually going to earn double that from that point on. So maybe you just have to play a bit more for the mid-late game, and if you haven't been doing this already, when you've fallen behind, splitting for a T2 will most often get you back into the game ASAP. Being Shaco, this is also an incredibly safe thing to do.

Also, like, fear the jester already pointed out, although I do recommend HOB with the AP build as a situational runepage in my guide. Comet is by far the best Keystone for Shaco. You are missing out on a lot of damage and stats by defaulting to HOB every game. Furthermore, in my experience, this is also not going to give you consistent results; in some games you will not be able to make early plays and then end up with a mostly useless run page, as Domination Secondarys all pretty much suck in comparison to the other choices.

I hope this is going to help you out or has given you another perspective on this, but either way, if the HOB-Insp Combo suits your playstyle better, there is nothing wrong with that.

are you talking about the ad build? because if youre talking about the ap build, then youre sacrificing practically everything for 674g by the time you finish your first item (provided that you get all 5 treasure hunter stacks, and even then, roaming early on shaco significantly nerfs your damage output since you need to amass boxes around you to be useful, occasional roams are fine, but perma roaming to get all 5 treasure hunter stacks will make your adc hate you), for runes, comet is the best rune hands down, since in a chain box setup it will proc multiple times on 3+ boxes providing that you have your burn, which synergises with your late game scaling, hail of blades provides little value to you as you wont have any poke early, and lategame where shaco support is at its strongest you want have the multiple procs or comets flying across the map from your 20+ boxes, going for the domination and inspiration trees means that youre dropping axiom arcanist (scoring a takedown reduces your ults cd by 7% of its current cd, which is invaluable), youre dropping your 10 haste from transcendence and legend haste (haste is the most important stat on ap shaco since you need the most amount of haste and ap possible to be able to control more boxes for ultility/vision control/stored damage potential/area control), your dropping your lategame scaling synergy with gathering storm from deathcaps 30% ap increase and blackfires up to 20% ap increase. all for a tiny bit of gold, and also, with this build not building boots and rushing blackfire, youre usually building your first item around the same time as the enemy support will finish their first item if not faster, providing that theyre sinking gold into boots early which most do, even if theyre building an low gold enchanter item, and with the early 4 codex haste core you get the 20 haste from cryptbloom for only 1700g, making you hit your haste softcap 1300g cheaper which brings you online insanely fast compared to any other ap shaco build so idk what you mean about it taking ages to get items going. in all, i think with the domination and inspiration runes that youre sacrificing waaaay too much for a little bit of gold.., if you want to cheese early kills with hail of blades then i suggest fully leaning into ad shaco support since running ap with it will just be significantly nerfing yourself, unfortunately i dont have a video on the early game as ive never had a need to record it, i only really record my dopamine inducing outplays, but ill think about adding a vid to the guide at some point in the future that shows how i play the average early game

thanks for the reply. that makes sense and i for sure have been playing wrong in this case. i dont get how to split with shaco tbh. i usually push the lane and have no boxes since i used them on clearing wave

the new season changes might actually kill my shaco support,
more vision plants in more locations to reveal my boxes,
supports get cheaper control wards and a slot for control wards to always have one against me,
my leash is ruined yet again because of camps and minion waves spawning 30 seconds earlier so i either wont get to box river entrance against invades or i cant double box the buff, it might even mean all that i can do is place a single box and recall... (it used to be box river entrance, 2 box buff, 2 box krugs/gromp and still have enough mana to go to lane btw!!!)
horizon focus is getting reverted which is the core second item in my build, which will mean that with blackfires 20% ap increase and deathcaps 30% ap increase im losing between 65 and 75 ap which is an entire cooldown of my lategame box since 75 ap is 7.5 seconds on my box, so 1 less box... (im angry about this the most because no other item fits that missing horizon, 125 ap and 25 haste are the core stats that i want, it will either have to be replaced with maligance (-10 haste - 35 ap), seraphs (good stats but the shield ruins my clone survivability and needs a 3 mana item core to be viable), i refuse to build hp items with 25 haste because its the same issue with seraphs, i need my clone to be as squishy as possible, so... zero items fit that category, the only way i wouldnt be mad about it is if riot added traps triggering horizon so that i can actually get the 10% damage increase from it, but i know riot wont do that....

Fear The Jester (8) | December 3, 2025 7:08am
for the ap build im planning on replacing horizon for equalizer (if it will increase set box damage when activated, might even bring back my bft, malig, seraphs core build if the mana scaling on equalizer is good enough), even though equalizer only has 10 haste and the 30% faster cooldowns wont have much of an effect in the long run i think that boosting box damage at will for 8 seconds is too powerful, so ill probably be building it second, the haste cap will be very delayed and the 4 codex core build will be entirely destroyed, ad build will have to be rebuild from the ground up as the jack of all trades core wont be able to keep up in terms of early power and with the removal of swiftmarch and symbiotic they will need to be changed, ill see how things turn out and what changes, but next season really isnt looking good for shaco in general, both sup and jg
