The build you saw is actually just there as an example. I don’t play every game with the exact same build; I adjust it depending on the opponent and what my team needs. The reason the first item is usually Warmog’s is because it provides health regeneration. To activate it, you should buy three Giant’s Belts first and then complete Warmog’s so that the passive works.
So why not Heartsteel or Dusk & Dawn as the first item? With Heartsteel, there usually aren’t many team fights in the early stages of the game, so you can’t stack it much. Also, since your health value is still low early on, it only gives you a small amount of stacks. That makes it inefficient as a first item. If the enemy team has at least four ranged champions, I don’t buy Heartsteel at all because I won’t be able to stack it.
Dusk & Dawn can be taken as a first item, but only if the enemy you’re facing is ranged. If they’re melee, I prefer buying the three Giant’s Belts instead, because Tahm Kench gets stronger based on health.
My usual order is Warmog → Heartsteel → and then:
Riftmaker if the enemy team is mostly fighters
Dusk & Dawn if they’re squishier
In short, the playstyle can be shaped however you want.
I’m also a fan of NoArmWhatley he’s really entertaining, and I often learn new things from him. As for rank, I’m in Emerald elo. I know it’s not very high, but I don’t spend a lot of time playing the game. Still, playing Tahm Kench is really fun.
I hope I was able to help you with this. <3
