I dont really like the ghostblade pick , lethality isnt terrible but it doesnt help the team much and it doesnt scale well with his kit I think there are better options for reducing armor , like a black cleaver.Boots of swiftness and spear of shojin dont seem like great items on garen he doesnt have a passive to benefit from the damage.

I notice most garens running stridebreaker into PD almost every game (sometimes storm razor or cleaver) but I rarely see ghost blade. Is this something you still think is his best standard build?

In my opinion Ghostblade is even better now because crit Garen got nerfed not too long ago. The lehtality feels super good for Garen, it gives some solid AD, and the active gives you way more speed than Phantom Dancer and Stormrazor. The Stormrazor attack makes you quick for 1.5 seconds, but the Ghostblade active lasts 4 times that amount, so even if it's half the speed you still outspeed it. You can take a Cleaver if you want to be more bruisery, or Mortal Reminder, Serpent's etc. There's other choices, I just personally love Ghostblade A LOT. I think right now it's probably better than Phantom Dancer in close to every situation.

I saw on the spreadsheet that the tips for matchups was moved to summoner school. Don’t see the guide on there though, when’s that gonna be up?

Hello, Federals!

Thank you so much for the detailed guide you've provided here! I've recently starting picking up Garen a bit more often recently and had a quick question about runes: I've tried Conqueror and Phase Rush and both are really good, but I'm curious on what your consensus is on Grasp of the Undying since I didn't see rune page for it. According to others, it's good on Garen for taking 'short trades' and early game power, but I wanted to ask if it's still viable at Garen's current state and any additional details as to when to run it and which certain champs I should run it against (or if I should just stick to PR/Conquerer right now).

Personally I don't use Grasp at all so I don't have it placed because I have no experience with it. You can do it if you want to, I just don't really like it. I take Phase Rush in 99% of cases, it is way better over Conqueror the higher in rank you go. In the lower ranks you can do whatever keystone you want.

Yes, absolutely everything is up to date, same goes for my other guides. There might be like 2 or 3 matchups where I might need to change something, but that would be for some other champions, Garen is fully up to date. Also, I'm glad you find the information useful!

Haven't been a pain in the *** for you in a long time, I just remembered an item with Damage Build Garen
Have you tried Unending Despair by any chance? I can imagine in my mind you being healthy in a 1v1

I don'find it that good on Garen even with a bruiser build. Too situational on the heal. Plus Garen likes to go in, do his combo, then run away with Phase Rush, so you never even heal. It might be okay for bruisers builds that focus on sitting in melee range to 1v1, but I don't really like it.

You can still buy them, just not as often in my opinion. They're more situational now and Swifts have more value overall.

Any advice VS. Warwick? I tried following what you have in spreadsheet but it wasn't enough. That champ takes 2 DMG items, goes full tank with steraks and still 1v1 me

The biggest thing you need to do vs him is play around his E. If he doesn't use it and you are full spinning on him you are probably gonna kill him. You can also take Serpent's Fang for his Sterak's and if he also has Barrier it's even better. Generally your 3 item spike it better than his, just go in and get him to half hp the first time and then go for the heavy all in the second time. Play fights slowly, and lane especially so. He doesn't scale great into the late game.

Well I did briefly and tried to put him low HP, the issue is the champion with Bork and Q heals back to full and Garen passive takes longer than that, we got to a point where we were both full build and the build he had he would not die

I had every item to deal with this and still could not 1v1 him

Quick question and suggestion.

Maybe at the end of the guide you could do a Patch Notes style thing. And tell what you changed and when on the guide for people to know what to read new.

And I Saw you have 8.2 on the guide, I am guessing it is because you havent added the threats/synergies section.

I just placed some theats/synergies in that section, it's just that I didn't place any text for the threats because I already explain it extremely in detail on the actual matchup spreadsheet. As for the rating, the way mobafire guides work is that you don't actually start at a straight up 10, I think it's something like 8 and likes/dislikes affect it a lot, like A LOT. that single dislike bumped it down to 7 at one point if I remember correctly.

I could also add a changelist at the end of what I update, that's not a bad suggestion and I might look into doing it on this guide as well as the other guides as well. I might be especially good with the new split, but I will need to think about it a bit more, but thanks for the suggestion.

yeah I personally never take it, D shield is too good, but you CAN run it if you want to. As for the lethality build, it doesn't work that well, just going crit or bruiser is basically always the go.

Also, Camille or Mordekaiser, what should be banned?
As a main Ornn I ban Fiora a lot

Play safe early on, he can't chase you down becausd no Ghost. Survive until 1-2 items and you're fine. Respect his lethal ranges!

I really tried that, I know I cant farm much because of his all on, I know I cant engage because that Will trigger Phase Rush and if he holds E I AM dead, so I need him to use E and then Phase Rush away. I don't know, but put me low enough under tower that he would all on me with Ignite.
Maybe I just played it wrong and its not a common playstyle.
Just to be clear, I still go flash Ignite vs Darius Flash Ghost right?

Oh I just Saw you posted the match up spreadsheet, just read the Aatrox build path and was wondering something.
LS says the anti heal items should not be finished unless they provide value to the champions kit, like Rammus, Malphite, Ornn getting more damage the more Armor they have, so finishing Thornmail gets value.

On Garen VS. Aatrox you say to go
Berserker Greaves, Executioners Calling, Stridebrealer, Mortal Reminder
Since Aatrox does not build Armor until later game (if at all, Lethality Aatrox is meta right?)
Would it make more sense to go
Boots
Exe Calling
Stridebrealer
Phantom Dancer?
Since you just want the 800 item for the anti heal?
