The only thing I want to add is that with the recent early game damage buff to shen, he can be a lot more agressive early on. First bloods are a lot easier now. perhaps you should update your guide to reflect is new awesome kill power? :P
All in all, I love this build. Better then the current top build here IMO. has the right mindset for me. I look forward to see if you actually update the guide so it's no longer "Expired".
For the rest, very good on how to play Shen, I love your motivation, I feel the same about it!
You should also get a list of what items you can pick instead, because if there is a lot AD close combats, you should get Thornmail, helps you and your team a lot.
I play 3vs3 mostly, and this made the difference between average-champ and AWESOME-champ!
I use your item set, but i generally choose Heart of Gold before the aegis... gives a nice little moneyboost...
After that I start building the Randuin, but I seldom get the time to finish before the enemy surrender..! :)
My runes gives me dodge, armor and magic resist, and I find myself dying normally once every battle, and with 1-5 kills and 15++ assist.. In 15-20 minutes, they always surrender..! Lovely guide, and once again, thank you! :)
Exhaust Ignite is a fine combination but it leaves you with no escapes or chasing abilities which is the reason I choose ghost.
Warmogs if you can farm it and then farm the bonuses from it is a great item, at my personal elo I would struggle to do that which means it becomes useful far to late.
Shen is all about personal preference, as long as what you are doing is working for you then stick to it, my way is perhaps not the best way to play Shen but its a guideline you can follow and adapt to it as you learn.
First with the masteries i only put two points into evasion and take the point from nimbleness to put into ardor for the increase to ap and as, since i usually solo when there is a jungler and it helps for last hitting and tower pushing, and the slight boost to ap helps with vorpal blades, shield, and ult. Then next i only put 1 point into good hands, and three into perseverance simply for the 4% hp regen and because i dont use ghost.
Second i also use exhaust and ignite for utility purposes such as to help stop or impare annoying healers like soraka, vlad, irelia, karma, and sona. Also when im solo it does help to send home or get kills against some of those caries who solo to keep them down early.
Third i also try to shoot for Warmogs first or early prior to sunfire, if i am doing well because hp is amazing with his passive and remember the perseverance mastery and your now growing hp pool which does synergize well with Force of nature making you very difficult to kill. His shield already blocks some damage early so having the extra hp usually helps to take more hits along the way when i taunt. The rest of the items fall in as needed depending on opponents
but these are my personal preferences to playing shen and more often then not it pays off unless the team as a whole gets stomped or out played
