The moderation team has been advised to start cracking down on people derailing threads and trolling.
While we want everyone to have fun on the site and not feel like big brother is watching, this has generally gotten out of hand. It is at the point where it seems it is only a matter of time before any serious thread devolves into goofing around and off topic chit chat. This ruins things for users that were interested in that discussion.
This is really a matter of respect, above all else. Respect for the person that started the discussion, respect for the people that want to continue it, respect for the people that want to read it. If a discussion has ended and there is nothing more to say, then let it drop. We should not feel the need to lock threads to prevent them from going off topic.
Depending on the situation, you may find the mods have deleted off topic comments, locked threads or replied to threads asking everyone to stay on topic. You may also receive a PM from the mods asking you to stay on topic. This may be frustrating at first, because we haven't policed this at all until now, but it is for the better of the community overall.
We do not currently have any intention of banning people over this issue, but if we find users are resisting and repeatedly breaking the rule despite direct warnings over PM, we may be forced. But I doubt it :)
So, if you feel like kicking back, goofing around and joking with your fellow MOBAFire friends, please try to keep it in the Off Topic section, where you are free to chit chat as you please!
