I would definitely use DOTA2 website's guides. Letting you see the guide in-game and changing your recommended items according to it is pretty awesome.

Honestly, I'll probably use the official website for guides if I were to get DOTA 2. If they do a bad job I don't see why not mobafire could get on the DOTA 2 scene.

It's also possible that Valve's in-game tools will actually focus more on coaching, streaming, things like that. They have a big push right now in Steamworks for recording and sharing videos (and screenshots), including some kind of collaboration with Youtube, and they have spoken about a coaching system. These are all things that could be worked into Steamworks generically for any game, which makes a lot of sense for them. So who knows. It could turn out to be more of a social media thing than builder/guides. Time will tell :)

If people are supposed to create guides on the forums you'll get the same results as LoL despite their claims.

From what I read there will be a dedicated section on their website for guides. These guides can be seen in game and you'll be able to set recommended items and such to use the ones on the guide.
