My math was actually off by a bit in the above post, but really, the soul stealer isn't worth it unless you get the stacks for Mordekaiser.

And yes, Rabadon's Deathcap + SoulStealer is way more damage, but only if you get them stacked.

I don't like haunting guise either, but i rarely make it to the point where i replace it (I replace it with a death cap or a void staff usually)

Interesting, the thought had crossed my mind whether more AP or spell pen would be better (since i'm aware he has bad ratios), i'm just not familiar enough with the math to calc it out myself. And part of it is unknowable, since you don't know how much MR the other team will have. I suspect that with full stacks of soulstealer and rabadons combined it beats the benefits of magic pen combined with rabadons (not to mention the CDR).

I'll try out what you're suggesting, though i don't really like the idea of haunting guise as it seems more of an in-between item that you would want to sell late game for an abyssal scepter. But at the same time an abyssal scepter would be a lot of money to throw in early game just for magic pen. So i'll go try it out, thanks for the suggestion.

Very poor item choice to get what you're going after tbh.

At level 10, you have a level 5 siphon, and i can only assume, you've built giants belt + boots of speed + soulstealer.

At full stacks, Soulstealer is 180 ap and 15% cool down reduction. this translates into a 361 damage Siphon on a 4.21s cooldown (roughly 86 dps)

With a haunting Guise and Sorc Shoes, (sorc shoes + haunting guise costs less than giants belt + soulstealer + boots of speed) you have a 392 damage Siphon on a 5.11s CD (roughly 77 dps)

At 19 stacks, it's 358 damage on a 5.11s cooldown and is 70 dps.

So basically, if you can't get 20 stacks that game, haunting guise is a superior item choice.

Cause morde's AP ratios are ****.

Plain and simple.

20 spell pen = 122 ap on siphon, 106 ap on Creeping Death, 215 ap on Mace of Spades, and 170 ap on CotG.

If you want more math, then by all means.


TL;DR: Any tank/ap build for mordekaiser without an Abyssal Scepter is -1. Also, look into items like Frozen Heart, and Haunting Guise.

This is a very useful build! I would recommend anyone who plays Morde to try this build and be amazed to see there game at the next level.

just tried this build out and it does work you just need to play it safe and buy wards if you are facing a team with a jungler poor udyr he gave me my 20 stacks by himself btw thx and you get a +1

Well Soulstealer is not that bad,if you can maitain the stacks.But on early game you will be forced to play less-tanky.In general a good build.Warmogs+Force has proven to be a very reliable combination against most team combination because of the crazy health regen and Health it provides.A +1 from me :)

Thanks for the feedback. I would agree that the soulstealer is the weakest part of the build. If you're playing smart people (I.E. a ranked game) i probably wouldn't build it. If you're playing less than smart people (*cough*normal games*cough*) then i think it's pretty safe...

On the other hand, i'd rather have the other team focusing me than focusing the squishy Ashe behind me. You can think of it as a free taunt making you more of a tank ;)

this guide does cover the ar and mr part yet it leaves a open gap for champs with stuns and a madreds blood razor. and as of late many people are focusing champs that are getting their stacks up IMO i would ditch the soulstealer and pick up will of the ancients or a hex tech gun blade or even zhonyas hourglass.

but other than that it looks to be a decent build i will try it out before i vote
