I bought him when he first came out then NEVER played him. Recently I have been playing champs I havent played even though I bought them and I found a calling in Mao. Great in ganking and teamfights and he has a nice harassment plus a knockback. So would he be Viable in Ranked games? as a tank or AP?

He's ok. Biggest problem being his ult that is pretty damn useless.

His ult is only useless depending on your team. It's still pretty useless even if you have the right team though.

The damage reduction isn't. It's the fact that you have to keep everyone in the circle or else it does nothing.
