As i wrote on the FB Page:
I am loosing hope at the League of Legends community. Seeing all those ppl just letting this happen. Beeing segregated, split with your friends. Some ppl see no harm in this process whatsoever, blindly believing Riot without a single question, also alot of US players (that in my opinion shouldnt even touch this topic) are acting smart*** and accuse EU users of "QQing".

Anything else; I've played popular games in the past that used one single set of servers for EU. At the very least, they should allow players to log into both of the new EU platforms from the same account, without having to choose one to stay on forever, or having to pay to switch. If one platform got too full, people could use the second. I guess I'm thinking of something like the realms in world of warcraft, except being able to switch between them without having to pay £32042953.
I guess maybe it would be hard to implement, and I have no real idea how servers work...I just feel like this should be possible. I'm assuming you play on NA servers - how would you feel if NA was being split into east and west, and you (and all your ingame friends) had to pick one region to stay on permanently?
This would still cause a problem. Of course people are going to choose to stay at the server they originated from. In addition, it'll be like a channel system for other MMOs. Everyone knows that channel 1 is going to be the channel that everyone is going to log into most of the time, right? So, in order to prevent this type of influx failure on their part, they had to come up with a more permanent solution.
Also, they're even going so far as to make the server transfer free for a limited time, so you have the choice to stay. In games that have split like this, most of them I would assume had the reaction of "Deal with it, gg". At least you have the option to swap.
On another note, WoW is also a P2P huge franchise, so of course they are going to offer a much different service to their subscribers as well given that that game is just massive in size.
It's unfortunate, but it's better to have the stability than having the game downed all the time.
Goodbye.

So what if 'channel one' was the one everyone wanted to join? You'd always have the second one as a backup. In fact, as it stands people are STILL likely to all move to the Western server, only if it gets too full they won't be able to switch to the Eastern server because you have to pay.
This picture shows essentially what I want:

Notice how 'Server 1' or the Western server is everyone's favorite, very busy and has long queue times as you said, but the Eastern server is still available for people to use, so what does it matter?

Actually it's only ONE free swap, after which they will charge RP. Why should I have to pay to switch between them when the whole reason this is happening is because of Riot's inability to maintain a single platform? Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't think of a single game that began with a single unified EU (or even NA) server, and then a year later when people had friends from across the region split it into two.

I suppose, but this still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

It hasn't happened yet.

It matters because it doesn't completely eliminate the problem of capacity issues. If people choose to just go to one over the other like a "Channel 1" effect, they'd still probably have capacity issues and the servers will down.
It matters not that the options there, but that people take the option in a balance to not cause crashes to one server or the other. If a majority goes to one over the other, it renders the capacity solution useless.

It's more common for servers to merge than to split. Actually, I googled, and found out Conquer Online did something similar. Also, you just said they give one for free during the transition, so...you aren't paying.

It kinda does for me to, I feel bad for EU players. But at least you get the free switch if things don't work out, right?
Goodbye.
You need to log in before commenting.
I can get over server split, but i can't get over that we need to pay if we wanna swap servers...
Just gives me the impresion of money hungry developers that don't give a damn thing...
Probably the correct impression, to be completely honest.
