You see what all the good supports have in common?
They all have something that protects their allies AND a disable. That's what supports almost need to be real supports. Karma can't quite be a real support because of this.
Soraka's disable is

Does a slow not qualify as a "disable" even though a silence seems to? Just curious.
A slow doesn't disable anything for the enemy, it only hinders movement. Scilence disables spell casting and interrupts channeling. A bind is kind of a disable since it disables movement(it might even interrupt channels, but I'm unsure about that one).

Sona's only disable is her ult....A disable on a 100+ second cooldown isn't really that great seeing as even with 40% CDR at level 18 it's still a minute. You can't reasonably compare her to the other supports either, because the only CC she gets regularly is the slow she can get with her power chord. Plus everything but her healing has a good AP ratio, so as much as I want to leave her in support, she probably belongs under "a little bit of everything", based on your comments about Karma.
I don't play Karma as a support, I play her as an AP carry. I know she's not really a support, but most people play her as one.
But...you're missing the point...=P
I'm classifying "supporters" as in champions that people play in a supporting manner (tanks, supports, and the like), not just supports.
Karma is a supportive champion whether she is actually a support or not.

But the way you're classifying them make pretty much 90% of the champions in the game count as supports...
The moment a religious person unknowingly calls his own ways stupid: "And lol. I highly doubt you have magic powers. If you proved it I would believe you, but since you 'refuse to', I choose not to."
I'm not putting every champ in there, you goofball. I'm only putting champions people play in a supportive manner on my lists. Hence why champions who are obviously carries (Kat, Ashe, and the like) have not been added, but why champions like Morgana, Lux, Orianna, and Karma are on the list even though they're not actually "supports".
Better now? or do you have a suggestion for what to add?
EDIT: I love how when I actually ask for help I don't get any. AWESOME.

I can build anyone but Kayle and Karma. Just ask if you need it.

Well, for one, I can't write descriptions for champs I don't know anything about.
Ones that I need to add but don't know enough about to add:
Orianna
Ones that I need to add that I'm too lazy to write up a description for yet:
Nunu
Zilean
As stated in the OP, people who help me write/write descriptions for me will get quoted in my guide and prolly get a +Rep.

Offense support:
Can deal quite a bit of damage, but has abilities that grant defense of some kind (A heal, a shield, you get the idea)
Could carry the whole team if needed
Has both combative and defensive assists
Not always considered a "support", but functions in a supportive matter
90% of the champions in the game would be labeled support if this was the case...
Supports are SUPPOSED to be defensive...
Here's a real list of the different champion roles.
