A nicely-written build, with some mistakes.I am not a professional tank player,so I will let my superiors grade your work, but I will +1 your guide for the effort, and with the assumption that you WILL add a chapter on 2xOfftank teams, and update the guide in each way possible.
Don't take the +1 for granted.Go the extra mile.

Contains a ton of misinformation.
I'm sorry, but parts of this guide just needs a rework.

I don't see how a guide like this is even needed. Tanks can't just be thrown into a single category, they're all very different and all play different roles.
A specific champion guide would be better in cases like these, imo.

Do try your hand on a champion guide instead :)

I think you dismiss the helpfulness of the cdr on frozen heart a bit to quickly, it helps alot with tanks being able to get their cc off more than once in a fight, tanks like alistar really benefit alot from this item because it makes his 2 cc spells able to go off much more often. It also helps with ult reliant tanks in that they have their ult more.

I like the calculations but something you should try is different default numbers. Currently you use 0 armor and 0 mr which never really is the case, if you assume different values you can get very different results. I redid the calculations with the stats alistar has at level 13 and found that the effective health from the items was very different from what you got and made some of the items you said were bad look much more viable. You should also include cost effectivness of all the items, while one item may not boost effective health alot it might be soo much cheaper it is the better option, this is easy to include by simply dividing the added effective health by the total cost of the item.

overall a very good guide and has some great ideas that can be expanded upon

But Amumu isn't there over Garen or WW?...

Anyway, I feel I have enough reason for a downvote - and am not forcing him to change anything, but my vote will remain a downvote if he doesn't.

I believed he chose those champions as examples of tanks because they're the cheapest "tanks" to buy. I know for a fact Nunu is only 450 IP.

I wonder if the author will change his guide to get your +1?

Xen... is that really a worthy reason to downvote? No one would call Vayne a jungler, yet she's in your Jungle guide. No one downvoted because of that, even though it's an odd champion to feature.

Just because Mundo and Garen don't have hard cc, doesn't mean they can't be tanky. This is a tanking manual, and I assumed "tank" encompassed the definition of a champion who had large amounts of health, health regeneration and some sort of initiate.

Yet, tanks such as Nasus, have no initiation and is considered tank. I find it sort of petty that you'd downvote on such a small reason, instead of just making a suggestion in a friendly comment.

The fact of the matter is, Vayne CAN jungle, badly, but she can jungle. Mundo and Garen can't tank, not even badly, simple as. Note that she's at the very bottom tier too.

They can build tanky, but he listed them under the tank section and then mentioned about tanky DPS, not to mention as you open the guide you see Garen even though it distinctly says tanking. He even says AFTER - "These are tanks; however, there are also Tanky-AD or Tanky-AP that can be played similar to a tank as well." He distinctly classes them as tanks.

"Tank", in RPG terms, is someone who can forcibly take hits instead of their squishier team, whilst being able to life reasonably easily. In MMORPG terms, Garen and Mundo can't make threat. What's the point in standing there looking pretty with high health/resistances whilst nobody attacks you and you do no damage?

That isn't a "petty" reason, in my opinion. If he can't define a tank, and is blatantly stating that some tanks are tanks when they aren't.

Furthermore, of the 5 champions that were listed with "builds", only two are true tanks. Garen, Nunu and Warwick are tanky-DPS or off tanks, at best. Since this is a tanking manual and NOT an off tank/tanky DPS guide similar to Duff's, they shouldn't be at the top of the page and listed as a tank (since you compared it to my jungle guide, I don't have the top full of Soraka/Janna/Sona etc and the rest of the guide about junglers, that would just be silly!). He did say that Warwick was a tanky DPS in the guide, but that doesn't excuse Nunu and Garen - who are quite clearly listed as tanks.

Furthermore, it's not very petty when I clearly stated that I'd change it to a +1 if he fixed the blatant mistakes, by classing non tanks as tanks - in the state that it's in I think it deserves a -1, I can, however, change that vote when/if he changes what I said. He doesn't NEED to, but my vote will remain as it is.

LOL i made a guide on tanking, and your's is superrior :D
Only thing I'd change is mundo and garen as tanks. Yes they take **** loads of dmg but they don't have much CC or none.

Great guide! I hope this would make more new players consider tanking instead of picking that 10000 critting trynd.

You could mention some alternative masteries. 9/0/21 isn't bad on naturally tanky champs with couple of damaging spells, such as Alistar or Cho'Gath. Also in the current meta tanks/offtanks are placed either in the jungle or solo top (with couple of exceptions) so the improved mana regen and 1v1 power should allow you to lane better, which releases some pressure of your bot lane since their jungler may have to gang top lane too.

You could also mention a somewhat universal mastery page for jungling tanks, like 1/14/15 for example.

Otherwise a great guide for new players for this often overlooked role. +1
