Lately i've been doing

Malph/Amumu (Malph if Morde, Amu if Irelia) (jungle/tanky dps)
Brand (mid)
Morde/Irelia (Solo top)
Caitlyn (bot)
Soraka/Alistar

Yes, youtube Colbycheese. If he hasn't yet, he will be uploading the games.

Gangplank top lane
Amumu jungle
Sona bot
Miss Fortune bot
Morgana mid

Imagine them all using ult in a team fight...

Galio, Fiddlesticks, Kennen, Pantheon also possible.

Galio/ Amumu initiate and ult. Rest uses ult after...

Well, if you want to do an AOE teamcomp, which is really good, I would do something like that:

Top lane

Cho'Gath

Garen

Vladimir

Jungle

Fiddlesticks

Gangplank

Amumu

Mid Lane

Anivia

Annie

Brand

Cassiopeia

Karthus

Kassadin

Katarina

Morgana

Orianna

Vladimir

Bot Lane Support

Alistar

Sona

Taric

Bot Lane Carry

Corki

Miss Fortune

Kog'Maw

Counters/Bans

Gragas

Janna

Lee Sin

This list only shows people which are currently viable. Someone like Nunu & Willump maybe have good AOE, but he doesn't fit in any way into metagame and his jungle sux atm. Or Galio, which doesn't have enough sustain for top lane.
He is gonna kill you!!!

Galio is hard for the first few levels but if you buy a philo stone with him and go back, good luck pushing him out of the lane.

Just saying...all top lane, solo.

Think about an Udyr, Jax, Cho'Gath or Irelia against him. He can't win the lane.

I went vs cho and you don't " win " you just out farm them its simple.

The only time I lost solo top was vs sivir who just pushed my tower hardcore, but you rarely die and your hard to gank up top.

If you're soloing, just go straight for Catalyst. Don't even bother with Philosopher's Stone, doesn't turn into anything you need and you don't need the gold/10 if you're soloing.

Anyway, there aren't specific heroes that you need to win, it's more like roles that need to be filled to win. There are multiple heroes that can fill each role, and which one is best for the job will depend on which other heroes you pick, the current metagame, and of course which one is considered most overpowered for that given task.

In general, a successful team will have:

- A fat guy that can facecheck bushes for the team and basically run in front and soak hits from creeps, skillshots, etc for the team. Not necessarily a tank or even an initiator, they should just be fat enough to do the job and survive. USUALLY the tank, not always.

- CC. You basically can't win without CC, in most cases. You need stuns to stop I WILL CRACK THE PLANET ults like Katarina/Nunu/Galio, silences will prevent slippery heroes like Shaco and Kassadin from being slippery, and basically **** dies faster when you're preventing it from fighting back. Get enough of it and you can also make the enemy team have to spend money on **** like Tenacity and Quicksilver Sashes, giving your team a substantial gold advantage.

- Phat deeps, both burst and sustained. You need someone that can chill out and plink away (or chop away) at people and murder them slowly, subjectively. You should also have someone that can pop out of the bushes and blindside someone so hard their hard drive reboots before the packet even finishes transmitting. Everyone on your team should be able to contribute some deeps, but you should probably have two or three that can really tear some **** up.

- Someone with the jungle fever, like me. Current metagame calls for a jungler, and that particular part of the meta very likely will not be changing anytime soon. They can fill any other role after their role as jungler is done, but mostly their initial job is to be running around in the forest kicking the **** out of dogs, ghosts, and someone's oversized lawn gnomes so your team gets two solo lanes.

For me?

I'd probably run, say, Garen as solo top. Probably have Ryze or Annie handle mid. Probably want Ree Sin, Winbeard, or That Chinese Damacian Guy doing the jungle thing. And Alistar and Blitzcrank bot, because that's straight up cheating yo.

Probably not the best, most effective comp in the world (no range except for the mage in mid) but quite possibly the most annoying, frustrating comp in the world. Half the CC they crank out can't be cleansed or reduced, but there will still be enough OTHER CC that you'd still have to pack tenacity/QSS if you don't want to die horribly in teamfights. Oh, and everyone except the mage would be at least a little chubby.

Thanks to Jsta for the sig image.

The gp10 + the farm you get makes galio a monster around the 25 min mark.
