"Blizzard spoke thus; Thou shalt not BM. And the players replied Nay, I shall Play my hand with Lethal already on the board. And so Blizzard sent unto them this Brawl of Yogg, As a lesson for their sins of Pride and Greed, for he is the Prophet of Madness and RNG. On that day, the tavern descended into an era of chaos and darkness, until the weekend passed and everyone forgot all about it. Amen. Book of SMOrc, Verse 20, Chapter 4." - Feam T

It's a weird concept, u'd have to play to understand it.

1. That's ok as long as it's not super hard to avoid or block it.
2. Healing is for ******* anyways :P
3. Is this anything new? I thought all good games were like this, lol.
1. Avoiding is sometimes possible, but it's impossible to do "true blocking" (block 100% of all damage of all types). All shields have different block %s for different types of damage (like 70% physical, 20% fire, etc). Not to mention that blocking eats stamina...
2. Healing items ain't instant neither. Character stops, reaches out for his pocket and chugs the healing herb. Takes about 2-3 secs to use the item.
3. Kinda different cause you get punished really hard for mistakes and failing to learn how to deal with the bosses.

Fine as long as they give you time to react.
Most times yes, but it's often that u'll get punished since u'd need really fast reflexes to avoid some unscathed.

This is kinda dumb if you can get one-shot by enemies, but I'd have to play to say for sure.
Avoid getting hit. Get better or die trying ;)
Money and experience in the game are souls. Same currency for level ups (increasing stats) and shopping for weapons/magic (no healing items for sale in this game).
All progress in the level is lost, all enemies respawn but open doors and such remain the way you left them. All your money will be left on the place you died (on your bloodstain). If you're able to reach it again without getting killed, you can recover the souls...
I want that game, but I don't have a PS3/Xbox 360.
I don't wanna waste all that much money either.
Maybe I should just wait and hope for a good emulator in the future.

what's with the sudden interest? been checking Demon Souls and Dark Souls stuff out on the interwebz? :P
Side-note: updated first post to include day 2 of the review diary...
There's not really anything I about the game that I can check out >.>
It's just that hard games are so hard to come by nowadays, lol.
As long as the game is hard in a good way like Ninja Gaiden 1 (requires skill and technique) I'm sure it'll be great.

Indeed it's true. Most games nowadays are just facerollable...
even tho it's a hard game, it's prolly on my top 5 for ps3 tbh... you really get a great feeling of accomplishment every time you progress thro the game.
To get some insight on the game, gamespot's review is quite complete:

Watching a bit of the gameplay on the 2nd video will help you understand the difficulty I speak of

Looks like a game for me :D
I hope they give hints for how to actually defeat things like the 2 dragons you saw in his third vid.

Nope, no hints given. even if you die 10-20 times you get no hints whatsoever. Trial and error... improve or die trying :D
the hints are placed by other players. so if you want hints you have to wait till others beat it and decide to leave hints.
the first demon you fight in demons souls, not the tutorial one because thats a scripted loss, but the one after that is a big black blob. attacks don't do much. then i tried using some fire and got it.
a big portion of the game is trial by error, which gets really frustrating when you finally get to the boss only to die and have to start the level over.

Besides that, on Demon Souls there's always the fear of invasion (by another player, since u're permanently online)...
Wut? That sounds very, very weird..
2. Healing items (if you're not a cleric) can be very scarce during the first couple levels.
3. Each boss has a different strategy that you must adhere to or be devoured...or one punched off of a cliff.
