Abyssal will be good when they are in close but the aura won't help with the siege. However if you need MR (which most likely you will) then it is imo the best choice for him. QSS being situational.

Interesting point brought up about Xerath in his locus of power state.
Apparently if Blitz grabs him, he will keep his buffed state while being moved towards the Blitz. Just something to think about.

he can be a jungler because hes passive but at the same time he can be a strong laner like nocturne
He has no way of sustaining himself, he will probably be a terrible jungler. His passive is part of the compensation for using his W. Not to mention at the start you're not going to have a ton of ap, so if it's in the range of 10% you'd likely have maybe 3 bonus armor.
