Potatis is quite good at last hitting. But there are some situations where you should think about your teammate. I'm thinking about Nasus and Veigar. Especialy the 2nd one, his projectile is quite slow and if you lasthit a creep faster, he will waste mana and get no AP bonus.
Other than that, it's fair game. If you last hit and farm that way good for you and your team. You might think of letting your teammate get a killing blow on champ later on if you fed yourself that way and so on.

Some thing people don't realise. when you play a late game carry. you don't always wanna destroy the tower. Why? FARM! farm . then farm some more. you can't farm when you are on the next tower. (cuzz you will be dead) + you won't die sitting at own tower + last hitting is pretty easy when your tower hits the creeps

Yeah i see my self there :> never laned with a nausus in like 100 games when i think about it. But since i come from Dota / HoN background. were last hitting and deny is as simple as not getting mana with garen is in LoL. Were every last hitt is battle. (espacially cuzz your enemy can deny) Guess that's one reason that not many people last hitt in LoL. I played miss fortoune mid against another Miss f. i had 100 last hitts she had 20.
And i don't really see the problem with lasthitting with veigar. your spells does x2 the dmg of a auto attack. cmon :P

i play nasus so i just AOE and let my lanemate kill minions than i get the rest. it is hard when i try too lvl up my siphon strike and annie pops her flame thing and takes all the minion kills. i had a game with only 60 minio kills i never even got too my third item because annie got all the kills. we lost that game i got blamed because i didn't do anything after some explaining the annie was the one who got yelled i mean annie should never have 400 minion kills and 10 champ kills were me i had 60 minion kills and 1 champ kill it does get anoying. but i have done the same thing too friends so i can be guilty of that. all i can say is jungle champs make me happy cus i always take the solo lane as nasus :)
Last hitting iseasy with Annie, then again I use the (return mana ability) to do so and when I get to 5 charges from my passive I just wait for the enemies to get stupid. Always fun.
