So, essentially if you are well in the know, I'm in need of information.

Steelseries 7H?

Razer Megalodon?

Sennheiser pc360? (New option I am considering.)

Which one, and why?

And I saw in a review, that the Razer Megalodon has a sound card which takes some of the work off of your CPU? And if that is the case, can the 7H match that with the USB sound card version that they offer?

I can't find a negative review on either one so I'm sorta stuck :P

If you've personally already purchased one of these headsets and have feedback that's good too.

Thanks guys!

I got the 7H USB a year and a half back. I can only say that I was forced to get a new one just this christmas. I can't tell you anything about the Razer headset, but I sure as hell can tell you a few things about 7H USB (And ofc. also 7H in general).

The headset started out great - was the first headset I ever had that covered my ears entirely. Absolutely AMAZING sound and such, surround sound working perfectly for games like Counter-Strike (Source) and such, where you can hear the enemy coming.
The first encounter of troubles were with the microphone. I think it started about 2-3 months after receiving it. The mic would randomly go "CRRRAHFDDAFBADJBDSKGV" while I talked to others. This went on for several months of the people I spoke to screaming at me "MUTE YOUR MIC!!" or otherwise complaining about it. I confirmed the noises by recording my own mic, while sitting 100 % still and not saying a thing. It wasn't background noise, but obviously a problem with connection of some sort. I soon realized that working around the cord that plugs into the left earcup had an effect on the sound, and that made it obvious how stupid the whole idea of plugging the cable into the earcup was. It's enevitable(spelled?) that you are going to somewhat move your head around, and take on/off your headset from time to time. Generally this cord gets used up pretty quick.

My second encounter I faced (I replaced my mic with one to stand on the table, for not much money), was the whole idea of the headset being in 3 parts. The whole system of this, as I moved to LAN-parties and such, it got really worn very quickly (A matter of half a year before I noticed it first). This meant that as I reacted upon ingame sounds, and talking to other people fx. in discussion, I had to use both hands to ensure that the left and right side of the headset didn't get too disattached to the middle part. Later I had to "put the pieces together" and HOLD them together as I took the headset on and off, in order for the headset to not fall into pieces. (I couldn't lift it with one hand, and I couldn't just hold with one hand on each earcup, as the sliding motion would disattach the middle peace. Not sure if you can imagine or not - probably not if you've never held the headphones in your hands before)

Anyways, I became accustomed to the behaviour of the headset, and figured: "Well, the sound is still fine, so I guess it's okay." I was mistaken. It didn't take the headset until around September 2011 to temporarily stop functioning at all. No matter how hard I squeezed the three peaces of the headset together, the sound just didn't come through.

The combination of the cord not being constantly attached to the headphones, and the headset being in 3 different pieces resulted in a quickly outworn headset.

- And please trust me when I say: I am not in any way violent with my equipment. I treat it carefully, even if it doesn't work - I try to figure out solutions before banging them into the table, or shaking them rapidly. Now it may just be that this was simply the case for the headset I got through the mail, but really: It's not acceptable for a piece of equipment to be that badly constructed, and for the connection between cord and headphones being that bad after having been regularly used for a year and a half :/

-

About the reviews of 7H (USB) - Don't be fooled: The headset makes a GREAT first impression, but in reality: Very few reviews take durability and reliability into account. The reviewers don't use the headsets they review for a year - no: They use it for a few days.
The only way to properly review a headset is through the words of friends: If a headset has served a friend well for 3 years minimum, and you can see that the numbers work for you, then hell if it shouldn't be a half-way decent headset. Now I'm being the good friend here, and I will tell you this:

This headset brought me through hell, I hope you won't purchase it, only to experience the same.

To round off my review, I just want to say that I now use the Steelseries Siberia V2 headset (couldn't afford the USB-version this time around), and am so far happy with it.

Oh interesting.

So your mic was being affected by the little "USB plug in" as they call it?

I am not entirely certain how big the difference is from the 7H to the 7H USB.

The problem was not the USB-end of the cable, but the smaller kind of cable that went into the left earcup. Not sure what it is called. I can imagine that all you pay more for in the USB-version should just be the actual prolonging of the cable, which enables it to actually be plugged into your computer in a USB-port.

See, it's actually normal headphone and mic sticks that are put into "receivers" of such cables, which then "converts" those two cables into one USB-cable, which can be put into the computer.

But the problem was the cable being able to be unplugged from the actual headset body. And as I said: As time went, the sound f'ed up as well. Or did I say that? If not:

In the end the connection was so bad that no matter what I did, the sound wouldn't come back and I borrowed a headset up until this christmas, at which I got my new headset.

EDIT: Ah, I did mention it, it seems.

DEWO recommended the Plantronics Gamecom 367 to me and I'm loving them.
Cheap high quality stuff.

I can control it pretty good most of the time, but when September ends, I just cant hold it in anymore. Kay, so I can't really suggest any of the above headsets, since I have no experience with them. But, I can give you a little bit of personal experience, which is fairly relevant:
I used to own a pair of Sennheiser HD 25-1's (they're just headphones for producing my music, no mic), and a friend also owns a pair of Sennheiser headphones. I can assure you, Sennheiser produces QUALITY products, albeit a bit pricey. I honestly wouldn't recommend any brand name to you, unless I wholeheartedly thought they were of the upmost quality, which (in my experiences) is exactly what Sennheiser stands for; amazing, high quality products.

I don't have them anymore, but only because awhile back my mom sucked up the cord in the vacuum and completely demolished them -.-

I know that's not exactly what you were asking, but I figured I'd share what little information I have on this subject.

Oh those don't look too bad Searz.

I'd probably side with the Razer Megalo though, unless those have some special quality to them.
