Many of you may have many ideas stuck in your head, but no idea how to get them out properly, and I've no idea how many times I thought I had a brilliant idea, then I checked myself with this guide and found it was bottom tier in the priority list.
That's why I intended to share it with you guys, because MOBAfire seems to be filled with bright-minded individuals who would make good use of the Support forum to get their ideas out there.
So without further ado, let me present:
This guide will include:
Templates that will catch your readers up on your idea in an instant.
A priority system you can use when figuring out if your idea is worth it or not.
Some general rules on how to make a better suggestion
Note that nothing written in this guide is stone-clad, and I assume people like some variation, so don't follow this short guide like your bible, it's simply a pinpointer to make it easier for you.
Templates
General template for addition ideas
Name of suggestion:
Short description:
Reason:
How it will work:
Remember, write very brief, and maximum 100 words for the "how it will work" part. It will simply work as a "too long, didn't read" section, and you can go further into detail if you need to later in the guide. Keep this short and in the very beginning of your thread.
General template for improvement ideas
Title of suggestion:
What do I want changed:
Why do I want it changed:
How will it benefit everyone:
Your title should always describe what you want changed, as well as the thread title. There is no reason being mysterious by writing "I want to change..." in your title. It's a suggestion, not a novel.
General template for removal ideas
Title of suggestion:
What do I want removed:
Why should it be removed:
Is there an alternative solution:
The general rule is, if you can't answer all the questions in the template, don't write the suggestion. It's as simple as that. When writing about alternative solutions, I'm thinking about something that may replace what you want removed. Priority system
From top to bottom tier suggestions, here is a list you may go through to see what tier your suggestion is:
A bad suggestion:
Has already been suggested
Will only benefit a select few members
Creates diversion among members
Has consequences for those that the feature does not benefit
A mediocre suggestion:
Makes something that is already possible, easier
Takes an idea from another website
Benefits every member with a certain post count or reputation.
A good suggestion:
Is entirely new and innovative
Changes the forum experience dramatically
Benefits everyone
Thank you for reading this short guide, I hope you learned something, and that it may be useful to you in the future.
