Hi,

I'm still levelling up, but recently I have really fallen in love with Skarner. Near the end of the games, it just seems like I CAN'T DIE. I love to be right in the middle of the fight, spamming my q, and that ulti is really awesome for ganks and taking out high priority targets.

My question is that I wanna branch out a little bit. I like the idea of playing tanks, but outside of rammus, I dunno where to fit the other "tanks" on a real team composition in, say, ranked games (I tried support alistar, but i wasnt in love - the difference I think was that w skarner i could keep spamming my skills - with ali basically once you combo, you're just a soak).

So are there any champs that you recommend to be in the middle of the action, can take a heck of a beating, but also dangerous and can put out some damage (skarner, even building REALLY tanky with just a sheen, can still dish out some damage).

Thanks!
Khazem

Cho'Gath, Renekton, Shyvana are all some examples of very tanky champions who can also deal quite some damage. Amumu is decent too, deals a bit less damage (unless you build some AP) but can take probably take some more beating. All of these champions love to be in the middle of the action at all times

The champions that I can somewhat compare to Skarner (as in the skill-set) are as follows... Pantheon, Mundo, Yorick, Mordekaiser (and the champions previously stated)...

These are the champions that I feel do a lot of what Skarner can do (except ult because Skarner's ult is too awesome). They all have somewhat spammable abilities, a ranged ability, an AoE, have gap closers or speed buffs (except Morde), put out decent damage, and become rather difficult to kill if played correctly. Pantheon may be the weakest of that group, but I still work him quite well, and his ult is useful. :)

I don't think any of them have near the potential of Skarner though. Skarner is absolutely the ONLY champion that I can depend on to do almost whatever I need, reliably. I am getting a lot better with Yorick though. :P

Cho Gath is probably your best bet. Late game with the right items you're literally unkillable and still capable of dealing significant threat generating damage.

Cho, because of high base AD, annoying skills (aoe silence, aoe bump), in-built HP and strong mono-dmg with the ult.
Yorick, Q gives speedboost and W slows, his passive + E (+ ult in a certain way) give him strong sustain and durability. Even with large part of tank items the damage are annoying :D
Malphite, strong aoe potential, in both disruptive and damage styles, dunno about late game CD however

Mundo : comic scaling on abilities, clever people just ignore you.
Pantheon is a melee caster : once you've done your Q W E, you wait. He's more a kind of anti-carry than a champ that stay in the middle and annoys eryone, both enemies carries or anticarries, like skarner slowing ppl around.

You could think about shyvana, she's usually built tanky (wits end, frozen mallet, mix of offense and def). Aoe'ing with the Dragon form, Z, Q+E in dragon form, she also runs very fast, if you liked that with skarner that would please you

PS : Olaf, meant to build super tanky as the most part of his damages come from his E, a low cooldown suiciding skill that deals 340 true damage. Of course Wriggle + atma + trinity improve a lot his dmg, but I'm still surprised how much that E deals from it's own.
