Just curious, after the changes, where does Shen best fit on a team? In the jungle? Solo top? Bot duo? And if you could throw in a rune set you think is ideal for him, that'd be awesome too. Thanks!

Solotop is one of his strongest lanes probably now.

His taunt is still strong in bot lane and his jungle is okay but he's now really good top. Like, even better than before the patch.

Solo top or Duo bot, both seem viable.

I would even consider maxing Taunt over Heal bot.

I've seen some pretty good Shen jungle on streams. But I think solo top Shen is most viable.

He is a good counter to many popular solo top champs like ire or gp.

There's no incentive to max taunt other than the damage.
The energy cost doesn't go down with level anymore.
Cooldown only gets 2 seconds shorter at level 5 of it.

Thank you to jhoijhoi for the sig, and all the dividers in the guide.

Just went over it again.
Misread the taunt duration, thought it would increase/lvl.
That should change it, until further testing.

But why I thought about that:

1) Vorpal's base Heal will be less effective with every rank, your own HP has more influence now.
2) Dmg on Dash now, while early every hit of affected targets can be brushed off with a rank 1 feint.
3) Using it to hit both enemies will result in a minimum of energy consumption.

And while you needn't to care for that on solo top, duo bot you shouldnt one-shot creeps with your Vorpal if you dont have a cannon minion around.

Actually I intended to use dash to outzone enemies and make full use of the new Ki-Strike/Feint buff instead of using vorpal as ranged harassment.

More aggressive and supporting playstyle.

If I was doing support Shen, which I really don't want to have to resort to, I'd still max Q first. I'd use it to poke enemies since now damaging spells will proc the heal.

The poke on it is really strong. Especially if you manage to Q-W-E-AA the opponent. It's ridiculous.

Support Shen, while doing decent damage and building tank (HoG headstart etc).

And if you land a full combo anyway, isnt it better to skill Dash since there is a good chance to hit also the 2nd opponent with it?

Cant shake the feeling that you're subconsciously fixated on solo top..? Nothing wrong with laying Shen out for that, but it's not like we're talking about that right now.

Shen+Cait/Graves etc. bot, first point in Vorpal, going for maxing Dash first and Feint second.

Only it's early harass makes you want to skill the new Vorpal first, but if I can work around that with Dash I can easily use the 2% HP reg the whole game, CD/energy cost wont lower on higher ranks anyway.

Maybe I'm missing sth. but dunno why that shouldnt work?
Because Dash's CD is still to long?
Do you rly miss the increase on the flat Hp reg on Vorpal?
Or is it that you dont see any merit in closing in on the enemy if you can use ranged skills?

I'm just curious, rly.
