There has been a bug recently that sometimes skillshots will fly right through champions. I don't know if it has to do with terrain or just a bug that sometimes registers when the skillshot is fired.

If I go bot, which I'm working on doing more, I do like Mooninites says, 1 point at 3 or 4 and max last. It is mostly utility on AD Ez, AP Ez it does a lot of damage, but you should be mid if you go AP.
If I go AD/AP mid it's my main harass as most people seem to forget that minions don't block it, ergo easy hit and it stops some of their counter harass thanks to the AS slow.

As ad take 1 point early and try to not forget that you have the skill (<-my problem).
At some point the enemy ad will engage into a full fledged exchange with you. This is when you bust it out. Jump in pop a q and a w and proceed to auto attack and spam your q.

Why would you go AP mid Ezreal? His early game is so strong and he can easily push AP mids out of lane.
I still get it at level 3, especially if I'm mid especially because it's one more skill to charge up my Manamune with.
