I´ve had this in my mind for a while now, but haven´t tried it out yet(and don´t know if someone else has, sorry if this has been done/discussed already)

So, practically I am asking would Soraka work as a support in mid with the AP? Her passive would fit there better, she can lower enemies Mres with her q to allow for some heavier harass and I think AP champions have mana issues more often than AD champs. Probably other changes to team should be done than to just move her from bot to mid to make this work, and it might be pretty situational (i.e what if jungler doesnt need blue at all?), but what do you think?

You divide the xp by 2, and AP mid usually NEED that xp, as each rank in spell improve a lot the dmg (pure dmg, cdr, slow, % dmg, etc).
That's why they are solo lane.

How would bot survive 1v2 without sustain?

Put AD carry top and it's too squishy.

AP carries scale amazingly well with levels, if you put a support in mid when the jungler can just give away free Blues, you waste their potential and level advantage.

Not to mention some AP mids don't use mana.

If your mid is denied blue from your jungler, or runs out of mana too fast, then there are problems with your comp.

So it's not just one downside, there are multiple.

Urgot, all I have to say. He even wins top. Then you can put anything you want into the other lanes.

I've only seen this twice. It can work in some situations, but your AP carry will fall behind in level and gold.

I do not get how he would fall behind in gold... But yes standard carries need that XP.
Regarding soraka - her best plus is that ARMOR shield bonus, what use it have on mid if u dont want to towerdive like crazy and these heals sucks in general.

It is not considered good idea on higher elo. But you can quite mess up gameplay of some enemies relaying on combos by silencing them while their 2nd skill window fade away and when your AP carry does not need so much these lvls for cdrs etc...
