Hello. I'm fairly new to the game, but am already bored out of my mind with the leavers and n00bs on the summoner level 10+/-. I cannot claim I have already mastered Yi but it's fair to say I shoulder-carried my team with him enough times (sometimes hitting level 18 when the 2nd best is 14) but he's just too damn easy to play, there's nothing to it. I wanted to play a Champ that could match his speed, harrassment and pure burst, but wasn't a total faceroll on the keyboard. I have my eyes on Akali, but the AP/AD thing makes me afraid to get her, not knowing how she plays and all that. Help please

We don't know what champ is good for you. Just try different ones as you keep playing.
Also Akali is built full ap not hybrid of ad and ap. She's pretty fun to play, but if you are playing draft vs competent people you'll be countered to a point where you will probably get shut down early and have no late game.

You will have to play a variety of different champions to understand which you are comfortable with. I know some of the champions that I wouldn't ever want to play because of its mechanics/abilities. There are champions that have similar skill sets so you can be attracted to that particular group. Since you like Master Yi, you can try out Tryndamere and Fiora. Do keep in mind you cannot always play certain champions.
Thanks to koksei for sig!

MAH TREE IS BAWS!!!!!!!

however, not at ALL the same kind of playstyle as Master Yi. Yi was my first champ that i owned that i consider to have "mastered", and i do say that he can be the one-click champ, AFTER he has been fed, however getting to that point takes a little skill, since he is kinda squishy. Master Yi has a very unique toolkit, and is a natural nuker, assassin, farmer, and turret buster (2 abilities that help you take turrets faster OMGWTF), and its hard to find a champ that replicates him as far as similar gameplay. Alaki gameplay is different as well, her smokescreen is crazy irritating to people that know how to use it, but the mechanic requires some.... finesse, and good situation awareness. If you want someone that plays KIND OF like Master Yi, go for Tryndamere, Fiora, or Xin Zhao. However, i would heartily suggest you take a champ that is AS FAR AWAY FROM *LIKE* MASTRE YI AS POSSIBLE. Not because i do not like Master Yi (as previously stated, he was the first champ i got to know really well and he will always have a special place in my heart), but because as a player, you NEED to have a very wide variety of champs, playstyles, and positions available.

Hope this helps!

Edit: Oh, and if u want to know about which style (ap or ad or w/e) to use on a character, try them both! Honestly with the balancing system in game right now, MOST champs (about 80% of them) have the potential to be MONSTERS if played with the right runes, masteries, items, and style. Dont be afraid to experiment! Whats the worse that could happen? You lose a game? Pssh, thats going to happen 50% of the time whether you have the right build or not anyway, through no fault of your own.
Hey, if you liked any advice i gave, be sure to +rep me! Oh, and check out my Shaco and Maokail lorecraft in my Blog! I'm a starving artist in need of attention, so please feel free to read, respond, and critique me! Please? Anybody that leaves a comment (good or bad) will receive a +rep!

I see what you did there.

Anyway -
Akali is built full AP. She isn't built hybrid whatsoever, and it's a LOT better to just focus on her AP aspect, as there's no reason why you'd want to build hybrid on her, AP always comes out on top, damage wise. She is full on burst, there's no harass in it, you either go all in for the kill, or you'll without doubt lose trades if you're just trying to harass people at a range with Q.

For burst and harass -
Cass sounds like she'd fit your bill. She's extremely hard to play, has some of the highest harass in the game, and her ult can make for a devastating burst.
Anivia is also a really good champion that is similar, but at your level, there likely isn't even a jungler to give you blue buff, and she's largely dependant on it.

For good AD damage like Yi (though, I might add, Yi is considered a horrendous pick and a terrible champion by most past level 30) you might want to consider an AD champion like Vayne, Caitlyn, Corki or Ezreal, who all sound like they fit your bill, too.
