With a good amount of the mobafire community just trolling our guides, shouldn't there be someone/something trying to stop this? I just recieved 3 downvotes on my khazix guide because the people who say it didn't scroll down to what I wrote, assumed it was a rengar guide, and downvoted it, accusing me of using the new champ's name as advertisement for my regar guide or something. My amazing rating of 68% dropped instantly down to 56%. So pretty much what I'm trying to say is this: mobafire needs to get people combing through the different users and making sure they're being fair/following site rules. If there already are people like this, I want to see a bigger impact from them on the terrible people who try making it hard to get a top guide. Tell me what you think.

First of all, it's kind of against the rules to release a guide on a champion before they're in the database. You get free votes before other people can even vote on the legitimate guides.

Secondly, people were probably DV-ing based on fact one.

Write guide.

Wait for champion to be entered into database.

Fill in cheat sheet with finished guide when champion is entered into database.

Proceed to not get those trollvotes.

It's your own fault for not being patient like everyone else, is getting several votes REALLY that important?

You go on any site, you will always get troll votes. Deal with it. Move on. For every troll vote you get, there are probably about 10 upvotes you get by the good people of the universe (alien or human). It just takes time, but generally asking review shops to review your guide will get you publicity.

Wait, so I'm getting "free votes" and my guide isn't legitament? I'd like to think that I get upvotes because people believe my guide is good. And no, people are not downvoting because its apparently against the site rules to release a guide to a champion that's already released in the servers, they downvoted me because they looked at my title without reading anything I wrote. I really don't understand why you seem to be accusing me of doing something wrong, when it's obviously other people just screwing around with the privileges you get by signing up on Mobafire.

That's kinda what I'm saying. If you keep your "Rengar" guide out until Kha'zix comes out and then swap it to him, it will be force archived.

Okay. Maybe you do have a good guide. It's going to be an "illegal" guide if you keep it as is like I said above.

What "privileges?"
Voting? Making guides? It's not like either of those are against the rules.
It's the fact that you are making a "Kha'zix" guide with a Rengar label, when Kha'zix is not on our database. Yes, people will downvote for that to get it off. If they don't people will report Kha'zix is finally in our system and it'll get removed.

Thank you to jhoijhoi for the sig, and all the dividers in the guide.

@Wispofdoom, I'm sorry you're having a bad experience, I just wanted to chime in to explain a little bit about our voting system. Our rules are simple, but they are backed by a complex system.

The rules are, if you are voting once per guide, your vote is legitimate. There are many reasons someone might down vote a guide. If the people down voting your guide did not like it because it is too soon for a guide on this champ, or because they felt the title was misleading, etc... Their votes are representative. That is, the people that voted represent an even larger number of people that would agree but didn't vote. We use this information to rank all guides together so that we can direct our users to the guides that they are most likely to enjoy reading.

I have not seen the guide in question but if you have published a guide as a certain champion but written about a different champion, you will obviously get down votes from users expecting to see strategy for the champion they are searching under but getting strategy for a totally different champion. The site uses the champion selected for your guide to promote it to people that are looking for information on that champion. You are wasting their time, so they down vote.

If you are also posting a guide for a champion that is not out yet, many users feel very strongly that there has not been enough time for anyone to truly learn enough about the champion yet. This is why our system limits voting on new champion guides for a couple days - to give everyone time to learn the champion. Once again, they will obviously down vote your guide if they feel this way, and that is not trolling. It is a legitimate opinion.

However, if someone is attempting to cheat the system to vote more than once on the same guide, this is against the rules.

To combat this we have a number of automated systems in the back end (I won't get into them here but there is information around the site about them) as well as a powerful and in-depth reporting system that is monitored by multiple people.

I might recommend re-posting your guide once the champion is released. Your score will start over and readers will likely be more interested in what you have to say at that point.
