I play top lane more than anything else really, and besides malphite (who's pretty much always banned), he is the only lane that I look at and just toss up my hands.

Looking at it now Jayce is just like Nidalee, they both have mode swap "ults".
Anyway, AP Nid probably going to be best counter IMO for Jayce as long as you're able to harass effectively. She can heal herself, ward the bushes, and has decently ranged poke.

Oh really? I just kind of assumed it was since its blacklisted text in guides but not in signatures. I seem to recall seeing it in other sigs at one point. I'll look into it tomorrow

He relies on poking you down, then bursting the rest of your health.
imho he's strong at top, but blown way out of proportion to how strong he actually is.
Yorick also can beat him, the trick is to just counterharass him with ghouls, rather than try to catch him.
Alternatively, find someone who has a good gap close and high burst damage - Irelia, for example, Lee Sin as another.
