Skip to the colored section to see the meat and potatoes

I have been playing almost strictly 3s since the map was updated and I win around 60% of my solo queue games and about 75-85% when playing with at least one of my friends.

The last couple of weeks I have been noticing that any team with a trapper (Teemo, Nidalee, Cait, etc.) can be down and seemingly out of the game. For instance one game I was playing AP Nid, my teammates were Teemo and a bruiser (can't remember exactly who but it wasn't Darius or Jayce so it wasn't all because of them). We were down 7-21 in kills and the other team averaged ~30 more cs per player so we were clearly getting destroyed.

Ultimately the game ended about 15 minutes later with the kill count being 14-25. My team WON the game almost strictly because of traps, what happened was one player on their team hit a trap and immediately we jumped on him. then we proceeded to use our range and traps to get one of the other two players who came in to get us. After that we pushed the bottom inhibitor and Backed to lay traps and heal/buy. at this point kayle (on their team) had an oracles and was going through the jungle clearing traps, while he was doing this he hit a few traps and ended up at 2/3 health. We Killed him and proceeded to take the top inhibitor and win the game.

Basically my theory is that if one team has a trapper and the other doesn't (barring any total noobs) if the game doesn't end before the trappers are able to get established (~20 minute mark) the team with a trapper will end up victorious a majority of the time. If you think about it since wards are disabled in 3s and if you have a trapper it would be like playing on summoners rift and only one team could buy wards and have map control, which gives a serious advantage.

Currently one of the best team comps unless intentionally contered
AP Bruiser (Kat, Rumble, etc.)
Trapper
AD Bruiser

Please comment your thoughts on this and feel free to add any other current 3v3 strats that you have!

Kat is a bruiser now? The more you know..

I think champs with map control can do great things on 3s, as you said. Teemo, Caitlyn, Nidalee, Zyra for safechecking. Bruiser teemo is pretty nice and he juggles 3 bruisers well. Any of those combo well with Nocturne if you're into that sort of thing. AD Nida also has some good damage into her.

BTW, your story makes no sense. Why would Kayle get an oracle to clear Nidalee traps? You can't auto them.

I call a bruiser any champ that can initiate a 1v1 trade and end up relatively unscathed, which kat does very well with spell vamp and 15% damage mitigation on her initiation. and kayle had oracle to clear teemos traps(sorry should have said shrooms to clarify) that game.

I like the nocturne idea his ultimate coupled with a BFT trap or 2 would be a pretty easy kill.

Does AD scale with Nids traps at all? because i like the idea of her being more consistent and less reliant on the spear in teamfights but this trap strategy revolves around not letting the enemy on your half of the jungle without taking decent damage(blackfire torch does wonders with traps) and letting you know they are there.

This forces them to stick to the lanes and just push but with turret and range you should be able to hold the enemy at bay for some time.

Kat is not a bruiser, or a lot of long-range mages could be called bruisers, since in theory they are not supposed to be reached (Xerath, Syndra, etc). She is an AP Assassin.

AD Nida benefits from cougar and her own sustain. She is tanky by nature (bruiser) and can still pack a punch with Sheen procs on either Trinity Force or Iceborn Gauntlet.

I don't think a trap reliant strategy is THAT good, they may decide just to go 3 in a lane and you guys either are able to turtle or you get dunked. The idea for traps is vision and to create a sense of map control over the enemy team.

I agree that traps should be used for that and ideally thats how, i was providing a worst case scenario that happens quite often in public games. It gives you the best chance at recovering from bad games and gaining a huge advantage in well matched games.

The comp I'v found the strongest would be Amuumu, Fiora and (third pick is adaptable) Ap nida alltho a Riven would be fine.
This comp is a late game comp, it has pros / cons like any other combo. This comp lacks early game power because Amuumu is really weak early on (alltho his ganks are good).

I usually go amumu fiora bot and Nida/riven top.
The shocking thing about this combo is that Amummu does really good damage (at least it was for me). With the new item "Blackfire Torch" he does really good AoE damage, and after all this comp is all about AoE. I like to have Ap nida over Riven in this comp because the extra map awareness, + its harder to counter. If you go fiora amummu riven they can simply build armor.

Try it at see for yourselves, you will be amazed.

In every higher ranked 3vs3 game you will find junglers. Jungling at 3vs3 is a must if you don't want to fall behind enemy teams without junglers. A good teamcomp for that would be a lvl 2 ganker jungler, Yorick in the 2vs1 lane and a good 1vs1 laner, for example Jax. With Jax, Nunu & Willump works really well, since most of Jax's damage is based on attack speed. Aswell, a Jax clone for further teamfight power. This teamcomp will be strong at every stage of the game without real weaknesses.
He is gonna kill you!!!

Kallcrack: I personally love Amumu in 3s, the fact that he has 2 stuns and AoE damage make him very formidable if he is built with the correct resistance, I don't own Fiora though so im not sure how that combo works out.

Nick: Don't get into ranked a lot as my friends are only around level 25 and I am waiting for them to do ranked, do people jungle from level 1 on in ranked or do they start at like level 3?

Also who are the most popular junglers right now? I have only really seen Vi and Olaf be absolutely dominant while jungling.
