Watching the champion spotlight made it perfectly clear that clicking on the lantern is a good thing. If people fail to use it because they go full on derp mode, then it is their fault.

Anyway, Thresh's Dark Passage is still great to save an ally with the clutch shield even if they dont click it some time. But obviously, this unique feature is great for coodinated team plays.
Me and Berzerk's ranked team have made some killer plays with it. :p

Meh... I have the same problem. I tell my teammates all the time, but they always burn Flash or get killed. It takes them 30+ minutes of me telling them to click it before they actually decide to use it.

I throw lanterns right in front of people's faces and they still decide to burn a Flash or just die.

It's not so much about me saving someone with it that annoys me, its when I set up awesome plays and then get ****ed in the arse by the enemy adc because no one used the lantern to put my play into motion.
I did have one good experience yesterday though. Me and Nidalee were running down mid away from a gank. I got caught up in a slow and had the chasers jump on me. I then threw out my lantern to Nidalee who ACTUALLY USED IT to come and save me o.O I was so impressed!
The only problem with this is that you can change direction at any point in time and are likely going to to avoid skillshots. I usually throw it just in front of someone when they get slowed or stunned, but they still choose to flash or just continue running.
