Hmm... Don't know what "hitters" and "crystal maiden" means cause I don't play dota, but ill try to give you some advice based on what I do understand. There are really not that many champs that run off of AD (which i think might be "hitters") but I do understand "tank", and that I can help you with. The best tanky support champs are Alistar, Taric, Leona, and Thresh. OFC you could always go unorthodox and have fun that way with, say, Volibear, Malphite, or Amumu, but the first four are common through any ELO. I would say that the best play-makers of these are ali and leona. Just some champs to give a look at, and the first three are pretty cheap to boot!
Hey, if you liked any advice i gave, be sure to +rep me! Oh, and check out my Shaco and Maokail lorecraft in my Blog! I'm a starving artist in need of attention, so please feel free to read, respond, and critique me! Please? Anybody that leaves a comment (good or bad) will receive a +rep!
Did some research and, closest support we have is Nunu & Willump. A well placed Absolute Zero, (which is a channeled ability as well) can easily change the tide of a fight.

I followed your tip on Leona . Loved the hero, and playing her unconventionally is really great. In lower level games, I can add a little AD items to her because most players are also newbies like me so we don't get to really play our roles but her natural tankiness makes her easy to play as support/tank. I will try playing Malphite or Volibear next. Sad to say though that being support/tank can be frustrating if your AD's and AP's aren't performing well.

Nunu & Willump is quite hard to play but I will try to improve my skills in playing this champion. I love the challenge. As of the moment, Leona is really interesting to play with.
If you are new to this game I would advise just playing around until you hit 30. I'm not saying that you are horrible or anything, as you do have moba experience, but playing support at level 11 is definitely not very rewarding, and you should just try out free week champions.
It is pretty hard (in my opinion) to main a champion in league of legends and only play that champion, because each champion only has 4 skills which leads to getting bored after 10+ straight games.
Finally, because lol has such a big champion pool, you learn how to play better BY playing other champions. Once you play other champions, you know how to play against them.

Basically you're looking at a SUPPORT champion, with AoE skills since you're looking at a champion like Crystal Maiden. So I'd say Nunu & Willump... similar channeled ultimates just like Freezing Field, and his Ice Blast is sort of alike to Frostbite, except that he doesnt deal damage with it. If you're supporting, just spam Blood Boil whenever you can.
Maybe, if I'm not wrong, Galio and Janna are also like Crystal Maiden. They both have damaging skills in an area, channeled area of effect ultimates, and single target slows for Janna. I suggest you master Nunu & Willump and, Galio if you like more damage, Janna if you like just supporting and not deal a lot of damage.
Yep, play more champions. Don't jus play supports. You will find fun in other champions.
And,
I came LoL from Dota too :)

Thanks for your inputs, I like the challenge that support champions/heroes on any game brings. It trains my reaction time to team battles and ganks and generally gives you an idea of the bigger picture of the moba scene which from my perspective is teamwork. I haven't tried Janna yet. To quote Aseafy, it is not very rewarding to play support in low level games, I learned that the hard way. Also, BlueArtist, Nunu is sick at low level games. Just, sick. Tried Nunu & Willump twice and man it was just like, spam to win then give the kill to adcs.
