Top 5 Champions for Solo Que Mid Lane?

So as a summoner relatively new to the ranked scene and hoping to climb my way up the ranks; I'm wondering what champions a more veteran player would recommend a person hoping to do well as a mid-laner should learn to play well.

I'm 90% sure Akali is better mid than top, and I wasn't talking about Akali vs Ryze specifically, just in the tier list.

thats right, but as ryze i almost never lose my lane to her(only her invisibility thing is annoying since ryze has no skillshots. thats why i would not say he counters her)

Akali is really strong right now, but most often I see her top. That's probably why I would hesitate to put her in the top 5 mids. I think she does better top but her mid is fine.

Ryze can beat her pre 6(as almost anyone) easily. then he should have catalyst of the protector and be tanky enough to beat her. Also, with his ultimate, he can sustain her damage and kill her pretty quickly.

I would say Akali > Ryze.

I'd say ori is a better champion, But in solo que you lack communication with ur team, that's y she's not on the list.

This list is pretty solid, though from what I've seen, might be a strong contender for the top 5. I've seen more game-changing Oriannas lately than in competitive play.

Orianna is really awesome for Duo queue with a jungler (or other initiator), so you have someone to 'e' and then ult from in fights, rather than manually targetting. Her ult can be hard to pull off without help from your team. But she's very solid overall.
