So, I came up with this GREAT IDEA (imo at least lol). Note that this thread is "garenteed" Janitsu quality.

There should be an option of making guides with co-author without giving the account information to someone else. You should only put the guide to a "co-op guide" and select author(s) that are able to edit and do things like that to the guide ^^

Yes, these are the things I think about every night ;(

This has been suggested before and we agreed that it would be a cool and fun feature, but there were technical issues with implementing it / not much time to work on it so it wasn't done. We do have this in our minds for a feature when we have the chance though. Thank you. :)
Thanks to GrandMasterD for my sig!

Lol I already thought I was the first one to post about it :p

Welp, hopefully this will be invented soon since it'd really be a fun feature ;o

The biggest technical limitation with this is conflicts when multiple people edit simultaneously. There are some simple ways to allow it but, it's gonna happen where two people are working on the same guide and overwrite each other's changes. The solutions for this involve locking mechanisms that can get complicated :(

If you guys think you can handle the potential for overwriting each other's work we could do it, tho I feel like it's gonna happen, and then people will be mad at us ;)

The other issue is attribution. It's easy enough to provide the "owner" of a guide with a secure link they can share to let others edit it, but to have the system attribute multiple authors will require a fair bit more work. Though you can always give credit within the guide, there would just be one author listed at the top.

Currently people can use third-party collaboration tools to work on a guide if they wanted. I think Mobafire's resources are better spent doing something else, since being able to co-author a guide is already possible, just not natively on the site.

There are plenty of guides where the author has no idea about the topic and their guide ends up being "crowd sourced", and it practically gets rewritten by the commenters as the author will happily change anything to get votes.

There is really no need for an actual co-authoring feature as it would just enable bad authors to completely co-author guides with a commenter. They should at least have to do a little work themselves if they're just going to parrot what everyone says.
