If you have a USB stick, just use that(which you likely do).
So go for the USB download.

Making a USB drive bootable is actually significantly more complicated than burning an ISO to CD.

Oh okay then. I don't know how to burn CD's so I'll just do the USB one.

And yes, I'm not known for my computing knowledge.

That depends on if you're doing it manually or through a program.
I find that it's actually easier if you're using a program.
