Views: 1080 Gifts, Learning to Jungle & a new found hatred for support
|
My very good friend brought me a super awesome present back from PAX, A RAINBOW UNICORN PONY! Ok actually it was an Arcade Hecarim code (and a Riot Blitzcrank too). When I first saw the Hecarim skin I thought it couldn't look cheesier. However, now that I've played with it I must admit I love it sooo much!!!
Anyway with this new Champ added to my pool of choices I've finally decided to learn how to jungle. The same good friend who brought me the codes took me on a custom tutorial today and a run through an intermediate bot game. It was fun but man there is a lot to learn about being a jungler. (at least a decent one)
I also have played some more normal Summoners Rift games as well lately. And I have discovered my love for running as support has turned to hate. Being paired up with unknown ADCs has not been kind to me. I'm positive some of it me, but when the ADC can't figure out how to farm or even use the ULT on their champ....well you know things are just not going to end well. Plus maybe I'm building wrong, but I hate always running behind on level and ending up struggling late game because I've become an 'insta kill'.
So ya stuff and things I've been doing in LOL.

think about the difference between the two and how that would effect the game. flat starts higher in the beginning...scaling scales...so pure flat would give you a better early game but be edged by scaling late game and scaling would give you worse early game but give you a better late game...what would mixing them provide?
So I am still learning about Runes and items and what their descriptions mean and how they affect the game. I grasp more about items than I do Runes at this point as that has been more of a focus for me so far. I am just now finally digging into the 'meat' of Runes as I recently hit 30.
I do have two Rune pages, but they were built based on a guide and not with any actual key understanding behind them. So you telling me the difference between flat vs scaling does help i.e. one for early game the other for late. And with that knowledge I can see the benefit of mixing the two.
Ugh....there is a right way to play a champion and a ton of wrong ways. I got to D1 w/ Hecarim as my most played champion. I think I know what I'm talking about.
Your Lolking build for Hecarim shows 4 Magic Resist / 5 Scaling Magic Resist. Is this still the build you use? If so what is the benefit to mixing them?
BTW I don't doubt you know what your talking about but I tend to learn better by trying different things. Sometimes learning why something doesn't work helps me understand what does even better. But that is just me.
other than that...yes playing support with random adc's is frustrating more often than not.
Playing with a premade AD Carry can be so awesome because you're often able to provide the AD Carry an early lead which will help him in mid game heavily. I mean combinations like
"Plus maybe I'm building wrong" - are you talking about the item build when playing support?
If I'm right with my assumption I just want to say that the actual support build is all about an early
Have a nice day and enjoy playing with
Oh Yes I agree playing with pre-made can be awesome. Sometimes I luck out and get to run Support for my friend, he usually plays Ashe. Its when I'm supporting an unknown person things usually go south and has made me realize at least when I'm solo queue or my friend is playing another position; I just don't enjoy it.
Well then my build isn't the problem. My support item set always includes the Philosopher stone/sight stone/ and boots kind of vary depending on who I'm running with.
Thanks for the encouragement, I've really been enjoying Hecarim so far! :)
Start whatever buff your bot lane side is on, do it w/out smite. Run to your next buff do it w/ smite. Don't do a small camp till you have both buffs.
The build on Hecarim is: Apen reds, armor yellows, mr Blues, Move speed quints. 9/21/0 w/ apen mastery. Rush Spirit of the elder lizard followed by Ninja Tabi and Spirit Visage. Then you can go for a Randuins. Skill order R>Q>W>E have all 3 spells at level 3.
Good luck hope this helps.
I've mostly been starting blue with Hecarim but I've also been starting on the blue turrets side of the map. My friend has helped me do smiteless. I have Runes for two other builds right now and will have to build up some IP for some new runes for this. I've been actually rushing Elder lizard but also doing sunfire cape. I do have a 9/21/0 mastery page set up, but I've seen a few references to running 0/9/21 on Hecamir so have been playing around with that. But I think its good to explore all kinds of options.
Thanks so much for the input. It is always appreciated.
