For example, all I did was re position the image, copy the original image, cut out everything but the predator and the girl, increased the brightness and contrast on the copied layer. Then I applied the image in a new layer and distorted it a little bit. I left the background distorted while deleting the distortion effect from the focal points. I then added a border and a warming filter.

Now, sig artists, get to it!

I'd probably say it's anything that doesn't take much time. Adding a nice gradient overlay can be really effective but is also simple. Painting a complex multi-layer background probably does not. That said, some clarity on where the simplicity should lie would be nice. Should it be simplicity of technique or aesthetic? Or both? That is to say, a simple technique is one that is easy to do. However, many fractal overlays and dodges, while simple techniques, are visually complex.

Just keep the image simple, a smudge or a blur here and there is fine as long as you don't overdo it I suppose :3
EDIT: To clarify, by simple I meant something that looks simple but also isn't complicated to make.
If you add 10 layers and liquify them in to one background while adding different effects to every layer then it isn't very simple. If you add 5 images on top of each other to create some whacky effect then it still isn't simple. When you take your focal, make it stick out and then do some subtle changes to the background it's simple. I hope I explained it well enough D<

I think something simple is allowed, Xeres is the one who decides, but I don't think it matters ^^

Yup, text is fine

Also great job on the entries so far, I'm pleasantly surprised (I thought everyone would like post an image with the contrast as the only thing being changed) :3
