I gotta admit watching people ******** about what they don't understand and dragging in random-*** criticisms is pretty silly.
Anyways Linux has always been a favorable platform for programmers. Curious to see how a game-oriented development will play out.

I see no difference.
Then I'm afraid that there's probably something wrong with your brain.
Again: you don't even know what Linux is.
Linux is not an OS, it's a KERNEL.
As I wrote in the text you quoted:
There are Linux-BASED OSes that are designed to appeal to as many people as possible, just like Windows and Mac.
So, how do you take "There are Linux-BASED OSes that are designed to appeal to as many people as possible, just like Windows and Mac."
and call it equal to: "Not to mention that Linux isn't designed for the greater mass to actually evolve from being niche."
It's like taking 1 and calling it 0.
Please stop making ******ed statements.

Dunno what other advise I could give ragers who simply rage because someone doesn't seem to have the same opinion.

I think you missed the name when you read the post, so I'll try to make it more clear this time:
1. I said OS. And I meant OS.
Then you're mislabeling it like a moron..

Google does indeed run largely on a customized Linux OS. This does not mean 90% of all webservers run on Linux.
Come on. With statements like that, you need proof.
I'd say Between 30 and 40% of webservers run Windows. About half of the rest are Linux, the rest are Unix-like/Unix-based OS's like BSD, Solaris, etc.

True, true. I just picked that up somewhere, not bothering to check the authenticity of the claim.
I do think that a statement like "the majority of web servers run on Linux" is pretty close to the truth though.
Quoted:
2. Even if you're going on with the Linux Kernel, I'd still say it's not the most used. (shocking, I know)
I still think it is.
Counting all electronic devices, I think it's logical to claim that Linux is the majority simply because no other kernel has the same flexibility and functionality while at the same time remaining free.

5. iOS is NOT Linux based. Windows phone is NOT linux based. Blackberry OS is NOT Linux based. Symbian is NOT Linux based.

Well, duh, but toasters sounds way cooler.

Sry dude, send a résumé or sth. otherwise I get confused by some noname trying to say that he knows me.
But if you just brown-nose Searz or if you use an alternative account because your first was banned/chased out(IS Searz), my bad.
And SkidmarkD:
We're wasting our time (more than normally at least), he's on nerdrage right now.
I'm getting flamed at for using a total vague statement and simply calling it Linux instead of "Linux based OS".
(Not that I simply tried to compare the popularity of Linux and Windows.)
Sooo... let him be and calm down, even with a 100% clear argument that you're right, the best you can get is him stopping to respond.
@Darcurse
I didn't wanna clamp oxide's thread with my answer to your accusations earlier (for what was a clear joke btw), but since I noticed that your not so smart contributions have already rotten this thread away, I thought I could ask you a question that has been bugging me for a while:
Is this yours?

Said "noname" has about the same number of comments as you do.
Does that not make you a noname too?
And instead of insulting others, how about you respond to the accusations in a calm and collected manner?

Look at my last comment. There is not a sign of rage to be found.
How about you back up your statements or refute mine instead of trying to devalue my statements?

SkidmarkD wrote:
I did mention it as linux based OS like 3 times in that post. O_o
Really? I'm pretty sure you didn't say based once in that comment.. I'm especially sure seeing as I'm pretty sure I'd react to you using based twice in the same sentence (you know how grammar-*****y I can get..).
But I have no quote of the comment to check with to see if you're telling the truth or not :(
You could just have gone back and edited those into the comment.
Sorry, I just don't trust people by default. My naivety has burned me in the past.

Tablets and phones (and other small electronic goods) shouldn't like really be taken into account. There is no alternative OS for the device, so there's no choice for the end user.
Oh, but there is :P
You can install a new OS on Android devices. There's UbuntuPhone, FirefoxOS and some more I don't remember the name of.
There's also so called ROMs that are modified Android OSes you can install instead of your current one.

I disagree.
OSes are designed to appeal to as many people as possible, both in looks and functionality. Linux-based OSes though, can afford to be more niche than others, because anyone can make theirs and distribute them freely for anyone to use. Windows and Mac are both driven by profit and both have one de facto version that is meant to appeal to as many groups of people as possible.
There are Linux distros that try to do that too, and some have succeeded in making a good OS. But sadly there is of course no direct correlation between value and popularity.
