Personally I prefer OpenGL over DirectX as a programmer.

Update on the R9 290X (the alleged 'Titan killer'):
It will have overall performance slightly higher than the Titan, but very similar overall, so that's not a big selling point. What is the big selling point of the card is the pricing. It is gonna cost even less than the GTX 780, being priced at ~600$. That's 50$ less than the GTX780 and 400$ less than the Titan, while having similar performance.
We can expect some pretty heavy pricecuts on Nvidia cards going forward, that or they'll be left in the dust, which I doubt they will allow.

Edit: Also, they announced a competitor to Nvidia's Titan. (supposedly being more powerful according to leaked benchmarks)
Mantle seems interesting. I would very much like it if control over the main graphics API on the PC platform wasn't in the hands of Micro$oft.
