I think it has been said already, but the main reason people hate on Mobafire is because everything that is said about the site used to be true (now, some things are still true and some aren't imo). The average elo of active Mobafire members (so let's say from everyone who is still active from the first page of this list) is probably somewhere in gold, though it still ranges from Unranked to Diamond so there's definitely enough diversity too :P

^ I'd say the average Elo of Mobafire is silver. Members with higher reputation have been here longer generally, and have therefore been playing LoL longer, which gives them more time to increase their Elo as opposed to people with low Rep.
MOBAFire takes members from the LoL community, so whatever the average of the LoL community, is somewhere around the average for MOBAFire too. It's not exact, but it should be close enough.
