Mid is a lane that has way too much popularity. If you can pick midlane in soloqueue without having someone complain about it, then you can consider yourself very lucky. If I were you, I'd take a second preferred role so you can switch around a bit if it is required. Then you have at least 100% more chance (sort of) that you can play a preferred role :P

You should always have a jungler. Double top usually loses with exp and when the jungle ganks you are both lower level than their top and jungle is.
Just fill the position that is left. Or start playing draft pick. That's what Summoner's Code says anyways.

Play ranked or draft or teambuilders.
Solves that lil problem.
But if leveling, it's best to try all the lanes, not just once, but repeatedly. For that one game you play might've sucked and you now think you are super bad at said lane/champ. Which might be true, but a lil practice can fix that.
Also, focus on 2 lanes/roles.
If your main gets taken, you'd at least have a back-up.
This'll work out better in ranked/draft....

Yeah, it'll definitely work better once you start getting more experience playing. Usually you want 1 player top, 1 mid, 2 bot, and 1 in jungle.
I'd encourage you to try getting familiar with how to play every lane. Even if you don't end up preferring that lane, it is nice to know how to play in every position, because sometimes you will get forced into a lane you don't want to play in.
If you're sticking to blind pick, some players can be brats about the roles you call. I've found that it is easier to not get into a lane you don't want to play, rather than go into a lane that you call. For instance, people are usually more respectful to following someone's lane call of "not top", as opposed to "mid pls".
On one final note, i think that playing only one position will hinder you later on, because you will only adapt to a single play style, and may be limited to a small champion pool

Sounds like you haven't hit 30 yet, so my advice is play all roles and find which ones you like the most. Once you hit 30, pick a main role and a secondary role. After that, make sure you know how to support and have 2-3 supports you can play well. If your main or secondary role is support, then make sure jungle is your 3rd role and have a few junglers and have 2-3 you can play well.
For your main and primary role, I would say have like 2-3 champs you know really well and try to focus on playing them. For the other two roles, have a champ or two that you can play good enough that you're team won't suffer for it. For me, that's
Caitlyn as adc.

Warwick. I don't suggest using him as much once you hit soloqueue. He is strong right now, but he will probably fall out of favor again. Then again, he is getting a rework.

Remember you and everyone else plays the game for fun. Then decide what to do.
It's nice and well to not take a mage to top because some mobaferian said so, but you'll gain more by taking that mage to top and see what happens. Then get back to the first sentence of my post.

********'s a pretty good fertilizer

I would like opinions on how to deal with other teammates taking my preferred position without picking a champion that might ruin the game.
I usually play mid, and if mid is taken i either join the player on top. is this a bad thing to do? especially if i pick a mage that is best mid?
