So I went on someones advice to get morgana over zyra.
What are the pros and cons of each on different lanes.

also I'm a complete noob with morgana and not quite sure how to play her just yet.

I mostly have been using her W ability the pool of darkness that leachs hp to take out several minions at a time. but i noticed that she is hard to gank with.

I'm just now level 10 so i don't have any runes or many points to put into masteries.

any advice is welcome.

you should use both of those champions as either support or mid lane champions

morgana is a better support right now because of her black shield ability and her snare if you can hit it, the shield stops any cc so its good if youre against someone that has a lot of cc (leona/thresh for example)

zyra is still good due to the zoning she can do with her plants and her longish range skills and her ult is great in teamfights

Morgana mid is okay. Her low mobility makes her insuitable for this season, where high mobility mid/junglers are desired. It is difficult for morgana to trade well, so morg mid usually ends up being a farm lane - which means that you put points in your pool, and just use it to clear the minions when they come to lane.

Morgana support is probably one of the strongest supports this season. Her black shield makes it really easy for her or her ADC to escape ganks. Plus, since bot lane is a much larger lane, it is easier to land Dark Bindings, and punish opponents who get hit by them.

Zyra mid is okay too. Certainly not a desirable pick though. She has okay scaling on her abilities, and could likely hold her own against some skill shot reliant champions like Nidalee, but her innate squishiness and low mobility make her an easy target to gank. Also, it is very hard to keep her alive in team fights, which means that you won't get to use your AP to your full advantage

Zyra support is fairly strong. She has really nice base damages on her abilities, which neans that she can really be a bully in the early game, when ADCs only have a Doran's Blade. Also, her ultimate Stranglethorns is a really strong CC tool & damage tool in bot lane, where champions likely have slightly less mobility compared to that of mid lane.

Hope this helps,
Neo

Zyra is my favorite champion since her release but I don't play her as support, only mid. She is an incredible laner, farms very well (her auto attack animation is responsive and she can easily clear waves) and can zone a lot with her plants. Once she hits level 6, a full combo is devastating.
Even loving Zyra, I must admit she has a lot of cons. First ot all, she is very slow: This makes her mid game pretty bad, as she can't help other lanes so easily. While her utility is very strong in teamfights, her plants die almost instantly when she's not 1v1 and then you lose a lot of damage.
She can do pretty well against traditional mages, but her only hope against assassins is to get an early advantage and farm. If Talon jumps on you, just accept your death.

I don't have enough experience with Morgana, but a successful dark biding is deadly.

Concerning them as supports:

A lot of people have a tendency to overlook synergy with your adc. I'm not saying this should be the first priority but it should definitely be one of the top ones when selecting your champion. Keeping that in mind, Zyra works extremely well with Caitlyn considering how they both have long AA range and if an enemy lands in a Cait trap and you land your snare, and for safety combo it with a seed to slow them once the trap runs out, there's a 95% chance they are dead. That's just an example of what synergy can provide in bot lane. Zyra also has incredible zone potential with her plants if you spawn them at the right time. They also work great as bait for a snare.

However, in my opinion Morgana is the stronger support right now. She has a snare as well, but in addition she has a aoe stun (if you can play it right), AND a beautiful shield that can com
pletely turn around fights. Keep in mind her ult is pretty weak late game unless you have a zhonya's which is pricey but worth the gold. You can counter almost every support in some way with her shield and its elimination of cc. Unlike a lot of supports she can also save turret if her adc isn't there with pool and snare to keep the enemy adc out of AA range. Her largest con though (in my opinion) is her high cooldown of abilities which can really hinder you in teamfights. If you miss a snare or waste your shield there's not much you can do until they're back up. Her movement speed is also a lot better than Zyra's which is important when warding and avoiding missing teamfights or exp.

Keep in mind the synergy thought though. If someone on your team decides to play Yasuo, even though Zyra has more cons than morg, her ult combined with his can wipe out an entire team almost instantly. They are both strong when played correctly, and even though I prefer morg, don't automatically assume Zyra is a bad choice.

Advice from silver I so I get it if people find it "untrustworthy" XD

Maybe this counts as guide promotion (?), but I do have a support Zyra guide here if you're interested

Both Morgana and Zyra are more optimal as supports right now. Morgana is actually one of the strongest supports right now, she's a top tier pick and really only rivaled by Thresh imo. She doesn't really have many bad match-ups and works well with most AD's, so I highly recommend learning her. Zyra however has fallen out of favor tremendously, she was easily the most overpowered support in season 3, but she's not quite as strong. I think she's still an okay pick, but certainly not broken as she has been in the past. She's probably my most played support, and I think she's worth learning, but if you're interested in the support role there's a lot of supports that are stronger in the meta right now such as Leona, Thresh, Karma, Morgana, etc.

- The same is also true for mid lane; both Morgana and Zyra really aren't strong mid laners right now, so I woudl recommend learning them if you like mid and like them as champions, but if you just like them as champions they have a lot more potential in the support role

If you happen to be on NA, you can add me (user name= Mooninites) and we can talk some more if you have questions, you could also join the Mobafire chatrooms which are on pretty much every server and generally people there are very helpful.

I think that they both sorta fail in the mid lane compared to others, they may farm well with their aoes, but they have little base offensive power. I could be wrong, of course, their power seems to hinge on their matchups.

As a support, they dish out a lot of damage while still applying CC. Zyra is a lot more offensive and more consistent because of her lower CDs and generally lower skill floor.
