Side note: (D)DoS isn't really hacking(cracking), the only thing done is flooding a computer with requests. It's like me(or a whole bunch of probably hypnotized people) constantly asking you questions. It takes no skill at all.

ikr, but by saying "hacking" i might have convinced more people more consinstely to get safer.

Yeah those DDoS attacks are often used in PvP games especially.
Hence, it is better to not have your skypename the same as your ign. Saw it several times already when I was in Dia 2, but luckily I tilted down, and all the afk/leavers are genuine 8D...
Edit: And btw, those so called 'Drophacks' were also due to DDoS attacks on the specific game servers.

TL;DR: don't use Skype.
It's pretty much mostly garbage right now.
I'm not versed in using hangouts, but that should probably be a good alternative.
Then there's Mumble of course. Mumble is great, but it is a bit more on the advanced side of things, more similar to Ventrilo and TeamSpeak than Skype.

It's a video by a dude who (if i heard right) got hacked during a stream through skype (or at least he thinks ), losing his connection for all the day, and he received messages saying that there were people able to get his ip through skype. He decided to make this video cause he knows that its not even that hard to find somebody's ip since he did it himself to try if its true. The problem is that by this simply way (which he obviously dosen't show) you can get anyone's ip even if it's not among your contacts, so he explains that to be a little bit safer by those "hackers" you only need to check an option, there are other ways that a hacker can get your ip, but at least now they have one less way to do it.
I don't really know what to think, i'm not good at hack n stuff and surely can't tell if it is of any use to do so, but ofc it can't hurt to check that option and i don't know why you would ever let everybody know your ip so easily.
I know it's not much and it's just a very short video and that i'm not explaining that much, but i felt like you would like to know this, or at least it's just cause i don't want any of you getting in troubles for ****.
