Im wondering this because Tristana is very popular in NA one top picks and now getting banned all time.

Its almost like NA is just worse and we cant figure out how to beat Tris early and mid game before she gets 3-4 items until that point shes rather weak.

Then if you look at other region like korea shes not in top 20 most banned in all ranks of play she is at number 44 in top bans in Korea ranked.

You also have NA still banning morg alot but in korea not so just seems really different.

Prob makes me wonder if people should learn how to play against something instead of banning it.

In korea they usually just picked Lucian and Twitch which will beat Tris until she at least gets IE SHIV and another item.

NA has too much strategical holes to stop a Tristana from getting into the late game. One of the games in which they succeeded in successfully abusing her terrible early/mid was game 2 of C9 vs TSM where wildturtle abused his early/mid game power spikes to keep trist down and win the game.

Don't get me wrong, Trist overall is a decent pick but by no means a 100% pick/ban like she is in NA.

Korea's picks generally focus on champions with (out)play potential rather than those being strong. Zed and Ezreal are examples of champions who are quite popular there while they're not as popular in other regions (although Zed is getting there again).

Now I'm not gonna blame this on "asians are OP" or whatever ****, but it's clear to see that Korean competitive play focuses more on champions which really reward a player's skill level rather than those simple to use, yet very strong, champions. Tristana is a prime example of that; if Trist falls behind, there's nothing she can do to fix that as she features almost no outplay potential.

That actually makes sense most picked champs in korea are... Thresh, Ezreal, Blitz, Lucian and Zed.

Makes sense that the Region with best players would play champ to out play others.

At same time i still feel Tris is not as strong as she made out into NA.

It depends if you're talking about in competitive or in general, Ezreal is hardly picked at all competitively but according to the stats I've seen he's by far the most popular in KR solo queue. Last I saw it was Twitch, Kog and Corki being highly prioritized in the majority of OGN games, whereas NA places very little importance on Twitch and highly favours Trist and Lucian.

Ezreal was, obviously, a soloq example but thanks for clearing that up. However the idea still holds; in KR champions with more play potential are generally prioritised over simplistic but sort of OP champions.

I think it's a matter of perspective. Yes KR obviously has some great players, but other region has them as well. Players with high individual skill can be found in any region, but I do want to note the importance of the mentality here. If a champion with such outplay potential falls behind, then they will still be able to make an impact. Maokai players who aren't tanky or Tristana players who have almost no items aren't going to do much, whereas Ezreal can kite them around.

I don't know what exactly it is that causes them to go for these picks. Considering the various interviews with Korean (and other Asian) players, I'd say that it's more the idea of "Well if I fall behind, we can still make plays." rather than "If for some reason they get ahead, we'll just outplay them. ez.".

Well Draven lacks a lot of damage especially if they have a bigger range and hard cc. :P
