Blitzcrank
One of Nami's hardest match ups. You pretty much can never harass first and can only punish AFTER Blitz uses his abilities.

| You can't go wrong with Dream maker on most enchanters because it's a plug and play item. You don't really need to think about using it at all because you will naturally buff/shield your teammates to trigger the damage reduction and damage on hit. | I think Solstice Sleigh is Nami's best support item because of the synergy with her E. Tidecaller's blessing will trigger sleigh on any ability or auto which will trigger sleigh and it opens up a lot more potential plays. It not only allows the person your buffing to stick to the enemy, but it also helps you move around in team fights as well. |

Pros
|
+ Best blind pick + Works with most champs + Great sustain + Crowd control + Versatile |
Nami is one of the most versatile champs in the game making her one of the best blind picks as she has great tools to deal with most enemies and to synergize with her team. |
|
Cons
|
- Struggles against hook champs - Immobile - Skill shot dependent - Squishy |
Although Nami is one of the best blind picks, she still struggles against hook champs. Due to her lack of mobility and how squishy she is, if you mess up her bubble you will hard lose any trade or all in. |
|
Passive - Surging Tides Nami's abilities grant Surging Tides to her target, granting them bonus movement speed for a short duration. This synergizes well with her supportive playstyle, aiding allies in positioning and engaging or disengaging from fights. |
|
Q - Aqua Prison Nami releases a bubble in a target direction, dealing damage to enemies hit and temporarily stunning them. This skillshot ability can be challenging to land but provides significant crowd control and initiation potential. When empowered by her ultimate, the Aqua Prison's stun duration is increased, making it even more effective in team fights. |
|
W - Ebb and Flow Nami unleashes a stream of water that bounces between allies and enemies. Allies hit by the ability are healed, while enemies take damage. Proper positioning of allies is crucial to maximize the healing potential, especially when empowered by Mantra. The empowered Ebb and Flow will increase the healing amount and bounce back for additional healing or damage. |
|
E - Tidecaller's Blessing Nami blesses an ally's basic attack or abilities, causing them to deal bonus magic damage and slow enemies they hit. This ability is excellent for empowering your team's carry and providing utility during skirmishes and fights. When enhanced with Mantra, the slow effect is significantly increased, making it even more impactful in team engagements. |
|
R - Tidal Wave Nami summons a massive wave that surges forward, knocking up enemies hit and granting movement speed to allies it passes through. Tidal Wave can be used for both initiation and disengagement, making it a powerful tool in team fights. When empowered by Mantra, the movement speed bonus for allies is substantially increased, enhancing its utility. |
The most ideal way to trade with Ebb and Flow is to get a double bounce, which is something you should always be looking for, though realistically you won’t have many opportunities to do so. However, in most trades, you should at least be able to get one bounce. Make sure you’re positioning and moving in a way that allows your W to bounce between targets.
Tip #2 Never throw out a raw bubble
You should never throw out a raw bubble in 90% of scenarios. Always try to chain it with an ability that slows or CCs the enemy before.
Tip #3 Don't be afraid to use E on yourself
You should be using E on yourself in the laning phase a lot more than you think. It's not only the most reliable way that will set you up to bubble, but you'll also be able to use all 3 procs more reliably majority of the time compared to using it on an ADC. This is a solo queue problem because it's hard to coordinate with an ADC to go in with no coms.
Tip #4 Combo Ult with bubble
This is Nami's bread and butter. If you see an enemy caught out, chaining your ult into bubble is the most frequent way to gurantee bubble to land.
Tip #5 Try to bounce Ebb and Flow twice to heal than for damage in the late game.
The heal portion of Ebb and Flow is a lot better late game than the damage portion. Always try to look for bounce angles that start with your ally that can bounce to an enemy that can then bounce back to another ally.
Tip #6 Try to use ult in choke points and into the enemy
Holding ult for choke points makes it very hard for the enemy to play team fights. Keep an eye out for these type of moments to split the enemy team.
In the early game, Nami’s main goal is to win lane through pressure and controlled trading. She is one of the strongest early-game enchanters because of her ability to trade efficiently with W and E, so the focus should be on establishing lane control from level one and pushing for level two first. Getting level two before the enemy allows Nami to pressure with Tidecaller’s Blessing and Aqua Prison, often forcing flashes or creating a large health advantage. A strong early trading pattern is to use E before auto-attacking, then follow up with W and another auto to apply slow and secure a favorable trade. Nami players should also pay close attention to when the enemy ADC walks up to last hit minions, especially cannon minions, since this creates predictable movement that can be punished with E and W. Mana management is extremely important in the early game, as spamming W without getting value will quickly drain resources and remove lane pressure, so every W should ideally hit the enemy and bounce back for healing. Positioning also plays a major role in surviving lane, and Nami should stand slightly to the side and behind the ADC while staying behind minions against hook or engage supports. Roaming is possible in the early game, but it should only happen when the ADC recalls, the wave is pushing, or there is a clear opportunity to impact mid lane or jungle fights.
Mid Game
In the mid game, Nami’s focus shifts from winning lane to enabling the strongest teammate and controlling objectives. At this stage of the game, Nami should stop thinking only about the ADC and instead identify who on the team is strongest and play around them. If the jungler is fed, Nami should follow jungle plays and assist in skirmishes; if the mid laner is ahead, she should hover mid and help secure pressure; and if the ADC is strong, she should stay close and protect them in fights. Mid game is heavily centered around objective control, so Nami should prioritize warding around dragon, herald, and baron while staying close to the team to avoid getting caught. Her ultimate becomes extremely valuable in this phase because it can either start fights or completely shut down enemy engages, especially in jungle choke points where enemies have limited movement. Proper positioning becomes even more important during mid-game teamfights, as Nami needs to stay behind the frontline while remaining close enough to heal, buff, and crowd control effectively. Vision control also becomes a major responsibility, and Nami should never face check or walk alone while warding, since getting caught can lead to losing objectives or teamfights.
Late Game
In the late game, Nami transitions into a full teamfight enabler whose main responsibility is protecting the carry and controlling engagements. At this point in the game, the outcome of fights often depends on whether the strongest damage dealer survives, so Nami should focus on buffing them with E, healing them with W, and peeling threats with Q and R. Aqua Prison becomes more valuable as a defensive tool rather than an aggressive one, and it should often be saved for assassins or divers trying to reach the backline. Tidal Wave becomes one of the most impactful abilities in late-game fights, especially around baron, elder dragon, or narrow jungle areas where it can hit multiple enemies and slow the entire team. Staying alive becomes the most important priority in late game because Nami provides healing, movement speed, and crowd control, and dying early removes all of that utility from the fight. Games in the late stage are usually slower and more controlled, so Nami should focus on vision, positioning, and patience while waiting for the enemy team to make a mistake, then use ultimate and bubble to start or turn the fight.
The overall game plan is simple: win lane in the early game through pressure and smart trading, enable the strongest teammate and control objectives in the mid game, and protect the carry while controlling teamfights in the late game.
What makes Nami especially strong is how well she enables teammates. She doesn’t need to carry fights herself; instead, she amplifies the strength of whoever is ahead, whether it is the ADC, mid laner, or jungler. This makes her a consistent and reliable pick in both solo queue and coordinated play because she can adapt to different team compositions and game states. Even in difficult games, Nami can still provide value through healing, slows, and crowd control, giving her team opportunities to recover and win fights.
Overall, Nami is a powerful champion because she combines strong early-game pressure, mid-game utility, and late-game teamfight control into one complete support package. Her ability to influence lane, enable carries, and control fights makes her one of the most well-rounded and dependable supports in the game, especially in the hands of a player who understands positioning, timing, and decision-making.
