I think they're trying to transition to an additive system of IP instead of multiplicative. So now it may be 1200/2400/3600/4800. There was a forum post about this, but Riot didn't comment on whether or not they'd change it. They probably won't change the current champions so people don't rage "OMG I JUST BOUGHT VLAD YESTERDAY I WANT A REFUND!"
