The stun isn't the biggest reason for it, it's that goddam shield. There is a ****load of out play potential with that W.

The shield is in my eyes the Riven shield, but with a higher cooldown and as Riven you just can cast it immediately :P

On the plus side I did find out that Swain can still do damage to him while being rooted foooooooooorever. So that matchup is a tiny bit less horrible than it would be for any champ that can't reach Ryze while rooted.
