Essence Flux was, basically Malphite Ground Slam in a line for a longer duration, and I think that's one of the reasons why he's top tier. I mean, when ADC Ez was developed at first, you wouldn't even take a point in W until 12 >_>

He was never actually troll tier, he was always super strong, people didn't realize his W existed, and they also didn't realize that he has a really good laning phase against most AD's.

Champions such as Vayne and Graves were MUCH more populare due to their crazy damage output, even though Ezreal was decent at that time, but they got nerfed.
